I'm going with tarp and bivi bag. In fact almost exactly the same kit as that trip we did in the summer Mike.

I wouldn't worry about making sure you sign up to the right distance. I mean even if I didn't get one of the 80 places I would still turn up and ride on the day. :D

I might put the rigid fork on my Lurcher; that saves a kilo right there. I'll go with the Maxxis Aspen tyres as well as they roll like stink. :DDan_K wrote:I don't fancy single-speeding it on my rigid 26 so will be on my Scott 29er with 29x2.0 race king tyres.

Re: If there were a UK 'gravel race' ...
Well I'm aiming to do the 200 in one sitting. At 8mph average that's 25hours which is only slightly faster than my BB200 average and I spent way to long not moving during that. That was my biggest lesson learnt. In 20 and half hours I spent almost 3 and half hours static. WTF how did that happen? An...

Are there any pizza joints closer to Llanbrynmair than Mach?
Thinking of coming the Friday night now but I have to have pizza the night before a big ride. :D

Re: This Strava stuff
I don't use it to compete with others though, purely to see how I'm doing against myself. Personally I think "racing" against others is pretty meaningless unless they have done exactly the same route as you. Unlikely. Self improvement is the best thing about Strava IMO. GPS recording is j...

Cordillera vol 1, Gortex Karakorum Mountain Cap and a total shot in the dark from the girl friend of a Trek Mates micro fleece sleeping bag liner. I think it might just give a few extra degrees to make my sleeping bag fine for winter duties.

I was going to suggest the Rig7 as well as it ticks all your requirements very well apart from being a tenner more than your budget.

....Revo.... I was sure a MK2 version wasn't round the corner. Do you have this on good authority and know if is still the case? Tempted by a Revo, but it would be typical that once I have one, the Mk2 would be released... This is my dilemma. I have been forced into holding off getting one due to c...

I have a pretty big list for next year as I have planned to do a "full season of racing". There ‘n’ Back (entered) Cannock Chase Winter Classic (entered) Two Ton ‘O Gravel (as good as entered :P ) Erlestoke Twelve (entered) Mountain Mayhem (might ditch this after chatting to people about h...

Definitely up for the 200, and hoping my newly repaired bones can handle the battering. I'm with Stu, I expect people to seriously underestimate how hard the 200 miles will be, it's also going to be a tough mental test passing that turn right for the 100 option if things arnt going well. :( I don't...

bicycle 7. Add lines where appropriate for the wind. This will easily take 2 people. I have used a line from the middle attachment point over the saddle and down and also a line each side to lift it a bit more. I used a peg in each corner and one where the wheel is. http://www.composite-projects.co....

Re: SP DYNAMO HUB PD-8X
I'm in the same boat with the Garmin 800, unfortunately you can't really charge "direct" through just a usb interface as when the output of the hub goes too low the Garmin tells you that the external power source has stopped. Great feature when running off an external battery but not for w...
