MYOG bar harness

bar harness 3.jpg Thought I'd post a pic or two of my bar harness. I've used it a couple of times now, including Spar and Back, and it seems to work pretty well. It holds a 13-20 litre dry bag solidly and allows the bag to be added or removed by clipping/unclipping three buckles. It's pretty adjust...

Interesting. A pole for each diagonal? And what's the condensation like when it's fully dropped in wet weather?

Looks good. What did you use for the uprights and how do you peg it out - through the uprights?

Not keen on the mix of old and new myself.

Dropper on a rigid bike makes sense to me though.

Phew! Feb ticked off just in time. Not many miles due to a late start and some epic puncture mending but a great night featuring starry skies, gourmet cooking and a close shave with randy badgers (possibly).

Roll on March!

Re: Outers - continuous or not?

I prefer full outers but have had frames with interrupted cables that have worked fine. Mind you, I've also had frames with interrupted cables that were horrendous and needed lubing and/or replacing all the time. I think some of it comes down to how the cables are routed. If it were me, I think I'd ...

Re: Luxe Sil-Rocket

Thanks for that, Stu. I've also looked at the BPWD Lair, which I think you've given good reviews in the past. It's a bit more pricey if you add a nest, the clip-in bad weather beak and the possibility of customs charges, though ... And perhaps not so flexible? But there is something about the look o...

Luxe Sil-Rocket

Anyone got any experience of one of these? They look pretty good to my inexpert eye but I'm sure others may see issues that I haven't considered or know of something better. I like the idea of something that will pitch pretty much as a tent when required but also as a fairly flexible, decent sized t...

Re: Your input please ..

I'd basically like something very similar to my Singular Buzzard but with a lighter tubeset and an EBB. I'm a big fan of short chain stays on 29ers. Image-wise, I like the jumpers-for-goalposts, retro feel. Can't honestly say I have warm feelings about the Evans brand though. I also like the Ramin. ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2014 thread.

Wimped out  A couple of us were heading out from Dorking over to St Martha's area but it just didn't seem like it was likely to be fun, given the apocalyptic forecast, This means I HAVE to bivy in the last week of Feb. Think I need to plan something further afield to make it worthwhile whateve...

Wow! That's some snazzy pitching, Stu. Not sure my tarp skills are quite up to that yet but I'm sure I'll be fine. Quite looking forward to testing the gear out properly and I'll be near enough home to just run away if it all goes life-threateningly pear-shaped. :)

Re: Handlebar harness

I've recently made a bar harness. I spent hours looking at lots of different designs, scribbling endless mock-ups on post-it notes at work and trying out various strap arrangements. I ended up with something that looks similar to the Alpkit Kanga, with two lengths of aluminium tubing for stiffeners ...

Bah! I really want to do this but have half-organised a Torridon trip for May and won't be able to do both. Been saying I'll go back to Torridon every year for over 20 years so I can't blow it out.
