Speedball ready for a test ride!
It needs a couple of finishing touches like frame protection and one hose shortening. And it'll probably get 2.6 tyres put on at some point, but otherwise it's done. One or two parts i'd like to be different, but I just wanted it done and riding. Now a weekend of solo parenting...

Just spent a lovely morning/early afternoon in Newborough beach. Always feels like you’re abroad there with the ruined church, white cottages and white lighthouse with the clear waters shimming below

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
By coincidence I happened to watch a BBC short film last night about the ravens that roost in the forest behind the beach there. Apparantly it's mainly juveniles who can fly in from many miles away and use the area for speed dating! Ravens mate for life which can be 25-30 years.voodoo_simon wrote: ↑Fri May 16, 2025 5:32 pm Just spent a lovely morning/early afternoon in Newborough beach. Weirdly, as soon as I went into the forest for the return leg, I immediately spotted with a Raven or Crow and I thought it was odd to see one there but apparently not

It came up on iPlayer after I'd watched something else nature related. I think it was called "BBC Wild" or something like that. The next one was Gordan Buchannan talking about sea eagles on Mull.

In case anyone else wants it

There was also a brilliant 6 parter by Iolo Williams on Anglesey but the Beeb have deleted it from their archives. Absolutely ridiculous
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I really like Iolo's series on the Valleys.
But, came here to say, CF, I saw Emily Chappel's show in Newport last night, which was great, then had a bivvy which was lovely, if a little chilly.
And off on holidays in the morning, training it to Germany to pick up my mum en route and have 5 days at Lake Constance with her. Just checked, 260km around d the lake, my first bike tour, aged 16.

A week of ups and downs so glad it's Friday. Still sunny but the rain is on the way. Music stuff tomorrow then a fine day on Sunday for something, not quite sure what.

Another great series in Scotland is Roaming in the Wild, but sadly BBC iPlayer does not have it as available to view at the momentwhitestone wrote: ↑Fri May 16, 2025 6:17 pm It came up on iPlayer after I'd watched something else nature related. I like the music too, by Beluga Lagoon.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
On the whole, yes it is.
I've finished work for a weeks holiday, I've sat out in the last of the sunshine with a beer and I've a wee bike ride to do starting tomorrow.
Was feeling somewhat gloomy about the prospects of riding into a very large rain cloud all week (I know, I know Reg, but I'm a wuss) but in the final analysis, I'm happy to be off again on the old HT, it being the tenth anniversary of my first completion (in worse conditions) particularly as places are so hard to get so I should feel lucky to get a 'by' in. As such I need to gird my loins and get on with it.
Plus having spent a bomb on fancy kit over the years, it's time I actually used it...
It'll no be as bad as the '23 BB300 in any case!

It’s just started to rain.
this means I won’t have to water my veg garden and the seeds that have been sulking in the ground may actually germinate.
Soz to all you folks who are looking to a nice weekend, but hey! it’s an I’ll wind - an' all that….

On the Corrieyairack Pass, it's raining but I'm in the tent and all is good. TBH, I might not finish The Badger Divide cos I'm that slow, but ATM I don't really care. A good time will be had. I might take that back tomorrow after trudging/riding through the rain. Did you know it's raining. Ask Phil, he'll tell you

BaM In Progress
Naughty Mr Slug discovered perilously close to my nose this morning, but not quite on it. So yeah, CF. Carefully transferred to a log.
Packed up, and biked down to Worcester station.
He's hitched a lift on my Brompton bag! His new home is now the seat on Platform 2B.

If you are interested in Corvids then can I recommend the book 'Crow Country' by Mark Cocker? It's a few years old now so can be picked up cheap on eBay sometimes.By coincidence I happened to watch a BBC short film last night about the ravens that roost in the forest behind the beach there. Apparently it's mainly juveniles who can fly in from many miles away and use the area for speed dating! Ravens mate for life which can be 25-30 years.

Love it!!
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Off to a walking weekend in Blaenau Ffestiniog with a bunch of old mates

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Cheery enough. Currently at Download festival and the sun is shining
My first 'proper' festival in about 15 years. So I'm 40, not 25. My back hurts constantly, the closest thing to narcotics is codine, I'm in a campervan instead of a leaky tent and I've brought a yoga mat and smoothies for morning recovery, rather than hair of the dog.
Just about to head to 'Rock Fit' for a morning workout, second day running. After yoga of course
CF!!
