Re: The post man's been ...

That stingray looks smart It does. What did it cost? Cheers Taylor. Cost £80 (£65 standard stingray + £15 for the document wallet side thing). Document wallet standard is on the drive side, but I asked nicely and they put it non drive side. Only thing I would say is that I wish there was an option ...

Re: terra nova moonlite?? worth the money or not

waterproof close fitting base layer - sounds like latex pyjamas are going to be the next big thing for bivvying - like a whole new fetish in the making - and so very wrong! Think I shall avoid as much as possible and experiment with trying to move where the dew point is etc. Also have Stu's hammock...

Re: terra nova moonlite?? worth the money or not

I was doing some in depth reading on the subject a while back (although I stopped before I worked a proper conclusion out for some reason...). Anyway, it's all down to the due point, moving where it is and a lot of other factors, most of which have been mentioned here. I also read about the use of a...

Re: Cyclocross Recomendations

Mate of mine has the Cube Cross Race £999 so just sneaks in. I also have a friend with one of those, looks like a nice bit of kit on close inspection, good bike for the money. In fact, friends who are ex bike industry tell me that the mark up on the more expensive bikes (£1k+) is far less than the ...

I've built up a flat bar Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 (105groupset, with SLX shifters and hydraulic brakes) which I use for commuting and occasionally cut accross fields on (although it has road tyres on it, so it's a bt slippy  ). Dead impressed with and very happy. Actually here's a timelapse of m...

Well I currently still have an academic subscription to edina digimap, so can make my own custom OS maps for wherever (if I have the time and inclination) ;)

But otherwise, it's got to be your local area hasn't it :D ..not that I can remember what number that is

Re: Tyre Pump

I have a Lezyne pressure drive for road bike purposes (high pressure low volume)

and

for MTB purposes, a Lezyne something or other Drive - which is in anodised blue bling so I can differentiate it between my road pump. It's a high volume, low pressure jobby.

Top notch quality if a bit pricey ;)

Re: FS: Hammocks and Tarp

In that case, I'll take the DD hammock and the tarp please. I reckon that tarp will be handy @ Strathpuffer to protect the bikes outside whilst we huddle in the tent. :? How do you want payment? Re: Paper Maps vs GPS

this is exactly the reason why I stopped using a tom tom in the car and use a paper map.

I like paper maps :-)

I also find it quicker/easier to grab a map than plot a route on a computer and then load it on computer, although I have to say I do this sometimes !

Do you like a bit of space, or are you happy with a snug fit? I'm 6'2", 13 stone, and am very happy with my pipedream 400. In fairness, I'm 5ft10 or 11 and have one of the fairly original pipedream 400s (back when they were made of pertex) and I can positively snuggle right inside it, I'd imag...

I guess I'd need a tarp to keep dry in it?

could you weigh those per chance? Sure can. You could reduce the weight of both hammocks fairly cheaply/easily if you were to change the suspension set ups. DD hammock is 1207g complete. Tenth Wonder hammock is 1140g complete Tarp is 800g complete I'll brave the ice and snow and bicycle them up/tak...

our only problem was the Mid Wales Inn at St Harmon. They took us hostage, made us eat, drink and be merry , kept us overnight and did not let us leave until they had fed us a full english breakfast in the morning. (sorry Stu ,they made us honest). That made me chuckle! Some stunning photos people.

I love Gore kit. Don't own much of it due to the price, but the few bits I have got I'm dead impressed with.
