DIY pot cosy

Post by Mactheknife68 »

Any tips/template for a diy pot cosy, remember seeing one made from foil bubble wrap.

Cheers Gary

That's what I used. A circle for each end, a piece to wrap around. I made an inner and outer to form a good "lid" and a slot for the handles. Silver duct tape to hold it together.

Or as another option, if you don’t mind paying is Tredlite gear who make insulated cook pot bags.

I’ve got one. It’s insulated on the bottom and sides and the top is wider so you can pull it down the sides of the pot.

I made one as Colin's post above but stopped using it as I tend to heat in a 'Pour and store' bag and so just made a foil bubble wrap 'envelope' for that - with a slightly wider flat bottom so it stands with the bag inside and enough width for the food to be stirred and reheated - simple rectangular construction and 3 sides taped - easy to carry too. Works well as do the pot cosys.

One of the reasons for the way my pot cosy was made so tall was so that I could stand up a P&S bag in it.

I've since made a P&S cosy too, in much the same shape as a P&S bag, so it folds flat but pops out to stand up when required.

*Engage tightarse/thrifty Yorkshireman mode*

Get thisen some "tip and zip" from't home bargains. About £1 for ten and just as good as the fancy version.

*Removes flat cap*

Aldi do them regularly. I can't remember what they call them though. I once asked my Mrs to get me 8 bags. She bought 8 bags of 8 bags....

you cannot blame her for you giving unclear instructions

Cheers so basically they will all work, if i add boiling water to them, without melting.
