Re: Getting better a bikepacking/bikepack racing?

If you want your skills sharpened up ride with someone better than yourself. Someone who likes a bit of exploring and bush wacking, and will show you a few new challenging bits of trails. Someone who will push your skill limits, because if they can do it so can you.... eventually.

Re: Cairngorms Loop - Sept Start

For those travelling up next Friday. Depending on your travel times and route you might want to try and avoid the new forth road bridge. It's been an hour or more wait during rush hour. Today (friday) its was well over an hour from 3pm onwards, and it was over an hour on the kincardine bridge as wel...

Aviemore locals....

I was in Aviemore four weeks ago and the new petrol station looked almost completed, and I was wondering if it is open yet or when will it open?

Thanks

Re: Ultra-endurance MTB Events?

Scotlands european, anyway, Alasdair and Tam of this forum did a low profile race recently. Sort of bikepacking but you could do it in 20 hours if you are really quick. Gary tompsett organised it. It's from Glasgow docks, milnigavie, up the whw, then using a variation of the great glen to Inverness....

ticks and spandex!

OK.... Lycra. It's very tight fitting, with silicone cuffs, but does Lycra keep ticks out, and thus not attaching? I was out with a friend, who took the piss a bit about me wearing lycra. I have always found it comfier, drier and easier to move about the saddle, but he said it was bull that it preve...

It's because there are checkpoints not a set route. You make your own route.

Re: New rear tyre

Xking 2.4 protection works well in the cairngorm. Fast, tough, light enough, but a little grippy compared to your other suggestions. But that's no bad thing.

Yep keep away from crossmark 1. Super fast but super slick in the moist. Deadly in the wet.

Take the 27+ if the water levels are high, the plus tyres will float and you can use it like a raft!

Sean_iow, you're correct. Once the timer starts you can ring. Always has been that way. Sean and Greg- I read it as TD rules 4. Modus operandi. Blah blah blah- any services utilized must always be commercially available to all challengers and not pre-arranged. I don't see where the rules defines th...

Help me out. Read a blog recently and something jumped out at me as being against the sort of rules of selfsupported bikepacking racing. I use virtual power training on my turbo. I use my turbo quite alot due to time constraints. I find it a huge benefit, sticking to the prescribed workouts. I had a borrow of a mtb with a stages, and was not particularly impressed. But the terrain I was on did not help. Rough technical riding with a ...

Had a quick look on trackleaders at RAAM. I know it's not bikepacking/selfsupported but it is very impressive how fast they are covering ground especially the solo riders.
