****EAST ANGLIA FAT BIKE MEET 29-30 JULY**WELLS NEXT THE SEA

Having seen lots of fat bike meets around the country, I thought it should be East Anglia's turn. So i have booked a campsite for the Friday and Saturday night (with the option of Sunday if needed), there will be fat bikes, beaches, a Saturday night BBQ, barrel of Beeston Breweries finest and a camp...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

After two manic weekends with Dirty Reiver and Dorset Gravel Dash, i'm looking forward to a quiet pootle along my local beach at Wells next the Sea here in the thankfully flay Norfolk plus a special 12% Mikeller bottle of stout ive been saving!

(that and UKIP losing all 50 seats......)

Re: running out of idea's. handlebars/arthritis.

What about drop bar set up like on a Salsa Fargo, so the drop is level with saddle, therefore you have the wrist straight on the flared out part of the drop. I don't have arthritis, but i broke four fingers on right hand and snapped the tendon in my thumb and due to complications, have limited movem...

Re: Just how stupid ...

Surprising number of bikes rocking them at Dirty Reiver a fortnight ago and seemed one of the better tyres to resisting the many punctures i saw, been very impressed with my 2.0 Specialized Fast Trak on Fargo, really fast rolling and resilient.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.

Bit of a cheat this one for April's bivvy a month, slept in bivvy but "fully catered" on Charlie the Bikemongers Dorset Gravel Dash 50/50 ride, great route and beautiful scenery. Goat stew and foraged mushrooms, scrumpy and good banter for tea, thoroughly recommend it. https://c1.staticfli...

I'm easy to spot, i look like what i am, a rugby prop forward masquerading as a cyclist, will be on the newly shiny Fargo

Re: Anyone want to keep me company at back on Dirty Reiver?!

Bearbones "mass pootle" to the cut-off pub it is then.... my AWSUM levels are definitely low. Charged my Garmin last in readiness and embarrassed to say i've ridden my bike 8 times this year, that's after 9000 miles last year, i'm hoping there'll be some sort of muscle memory and my legs r...

Anyone want to keep me company at back on Dirty Reiver?!

Anyone else riding Dirty Reiver here? I've slumped from being the fittest i've ever been in 2015/2016 to having hardly riding for the last 4 months due to work and family doing it's best to make sure i'm either knackered or don't have time. Looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure, i'l...

Re: Parking etiquette for Bikepackers

I had this very recently, i live 8 miles from the coast and quite often ride from the popular tourist destination of Wells on Sea, so park my car on a quiet back street in the evening rode out and bivvy and then usually back by 9am to my car. The lady whose house i had parked outside (who owned one ...

Re: Derelict houses - fair game?

I live in rural West Norfolk and was in the village my in-laws live in, the house on the road behind them used to have the old blacksmiths cottage, and we would always comment about what a nice please it could be and what a shame it had been left derelict, the roof had collapsed in one end and many ...

Cheap set of fat bike Novatech hubs from ebay and build on those, something like a Stans Flow rim which means you could use a 2.6/2.8 29er tyre to use a smaller tyre?

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.

Scraped this trip out in on Friday 31/03 for March's effort, but taken me til now to post up. Trip to the coast to Burnham Ovary in North Norfolk see the seals and cause it felt right to raise a beer and spend the night in the bivvy and mull over Mike Hall's passing. Lovely night and great clear ski...

There is a YHA actually on the South Downs Way, which is literally 60 miles in from Winchester End, called Truleigh Hill YHA, it does both dorms and rooms, does food and has a bar?

It looks like Kristof may have hit a bit of a wall? He seemed to have stopped in quite an exposed place for 8-9 hours half way up a big climb as if he just had to stop? Will be interesting as to whether that long break will be what he needs to see him through now, or whether he really did hit a wall...
