Idiots guide to - bikehike to garmin
Can't figure it out! I've plotted my route, clicked on save, what next?
I tried saving it as a GPX file but it went to adobe photo programme, so what do I need to do?
Cheers!

I plug in the garmin so it shows as a drive on the computer. If it's an etrex then save as a gpx file.
Open the folder called garmin and drop the file in the folder called gpx. That's all.
If it's a bike specific garmin. Do the same but save route as a tcx file and put it in the folder called new files.

If its a 'Edge' model, you need to drop the gpx into 'NewFiles'. Once you turn on the Garmin it'll format this files and moved it automatically into the 'Courses' folder.

Bike specific Garmins will also happily accept Gpx files. I export mine from bikehike as gpx tracks.

I had the same `blindspot` but followed the same advice that Ianfitz suggested and it worked perfectly and I am massively thick when it comes to technology!

Followed the advice and its half worked! Only 12km of the whole 100'm shows up, but when I reverse it back to the computer, the whole route shows :-/
Oh well, ill just go for a ride tomorrow and stress over it afterwards

Are you exporting as a route or track? You might have too many way points for your garmin to manage if a route.voodoo_simon wrote:Followed the advice and its half worked! Only 12km of the whole 100'm shows up, but when I reverse it back to the computer, the whole route shows :-/

I started out on the south downs way and navigation fizzled out after 40 miles!

Was a route, I'll try a track and see how that works
