That English was BRP's of this parish. Not seen him for a while, wonder how if he raced it.

BRP hasn't done the divide yet, he's hoping to one day though.

Field's work is beautiful, have a look for their new disc road drop outs and if you go looking through their site you should find a lovely 29er HT.

Oh wow, that's an amazing bike, just been hunting for pics & details, so I figure I'd add the links here:

I wondered about that. Doesn't look like it: http://coresites-cdn.factorymedia.com/d ... tol-13.jpg
There's a similar detail on one of his other bikes too: http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/d ... tol-23.jpg

Interesting. I'd be surprised if it doesn't flex noticeably. Was one of the things I didn't like about the Kona A, other than the usual Kona 4-Bar uglieness.

There's one of those Starling frames hanging on the wall in Roll for the soul bike cafe in Bristol if you want to look at one closely.

Looked interesting.

Will be interesting to here how you get on with the tour divides massive long flat road sections with a 30t front chainring (that's what it looks like anyway)?

Lovely looking bike - I remember looking at Triton a few years ago - back then they were £600 posted full custom. Now they seem to be more expensive than Brants Pact frames. Love that cnc'd yoke though.

I'm sure he'll be fine but will actually use the 11t sprocket unlike most people. :o
(It's approx 79 inches for the nerds)

He's already done it. With a 36t iirc. :-bd

I haven't seen a Pact up close but Gabe's bike looks like a bargain when you see the quality up close.

"Hear"

Just had to find something negative, didn't you! It's a 32, and I did TD with a 36, but it's not really important, I rode a lot with a guy running singlespeed 33x19 and he span along on the flat about the same speed, we'd lose him on descents and he'd overtake us on the climbs. Gear is not that important, really.

I like that. Triton make some really great-looking stuff. If they were based in San Fran hipsterville and instagrammed with the radavist etc they'd have a far higher asking price. As it is I'd take a Triton over a Firefly, £ factored in.

I don't have a good pic to post but of all the custom stuff I've seen what made a really good impression on me was being at Shand's HQ. We/Evans had a keirin frame made for Chris Hoy and the finish quality was superb, good to see what they do there up close and I hear that it's moved on since then. There's far higher levels of finish-fetishism out there if you want anodized ti with carbon inserts or ultra-personalised kit but that's not my thing really, I wonder if a lot of that is about the build-up foreplay rather than the ownership? Anyway. If I were having a custom made it would be a Shand, no second thoughts there.

OMG, you're so out of touch  The Radavist is in LA now. He was at the start of TD in Banff, doing some crappy shoot with Salsa for their plastic TD bike, Morgan and I heckled him continuously.

to be honest, I love shands work too. I kind of expected someone to have posted one before now.

Shand is one I can see myself owning at some point, their Bahookie just has a couple of little niggles for me and last I spoke to them, they werent in a position to do me a full custom. When they are, I'll likely get one. Ians Shand is blooming lovely.

Every year I visit a large shed in Bristol rammed full of custom bike pron - difficult to choose between them sometimes, though last year I particularly liked this one: http://www.winterbicycles.com/projects/ ... et-hammer/

But anyway, I'll just leave these here, because they make me smile every time I look at them :X
