Niche bars ... bamboo.
Although bamboo is technically a grass and not a wood, it is very strong. Strong enough to make bars it seems.

Re: Niche bars ... bamboo.
They are compared to Carbon loops
I 'spose they will sell loads being niche but I'd be slightly wary about longevity, especially given you will be clamping machined aluminium things to them with sharp edges etc....

Re: Niche bars ... bamboo.
I could imagine that they give a nice level of damping over rough ground, although foam grips would be a cheaper option.

I like them and would like to try them, but i'm not 100% sure I would actually buy them...
I like the effort and skill put into making them too.

There's some coming for test / review. Very much looking forward to trying them and if they don't work as a bar, I'll add a string

Interesting...and open to lots of other uses, it could be cut up and made into a nice* wind chime or pan-pipe?
*not sure there is such a thing as a 'nice' one mind...

Are they compostable once they break?
Re: Niche bars ... bamboo.
Wonder if they can be used for additional water storage?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Surely of interest to this site's resident Panda handlers?

Do you use carbon bars? :)fatbikephil wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 8:35 pm They are compared to Carbon loops

Re: Niche bars ... bamboo.
I'm told that if adding aero bars, then they supply a pair of 'clamping shims' but gps, lights, etc are no concern. Personally, I reckon I've more faith in bamboo than I have in carbon, after all I love their socksespecially given you will be clamping machined aluminium things to them with sharp edges etc....

Re: Niche bars ... bamboo.
Right enough and I suppose if they do snap its better to get a load of bamboo shards in your arms than carbon fibres and epoxy....jameso wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:57 amDo you use carbon bars? :)fatbikephil wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 8:35 pm They are compared to Carbon loops

As far as I know the passchier bamboo handlebar is made from bamboo, carbon and resin (eg epoxy). Carbon is used for the sleeve inside the bamboo in the stem clamping area.fatbikephil wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:10 amRight enough and I suppose if they do snap its better to get a load of bamboo shards in your arms than carbon fibres and epoxy....jameso wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:57 amDo you use carbon bars? :)fatbikephil wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 8:35 pm They are compared to Carbon loops
