Most of it is behind a paywall and I can't see it, but the bit where it says 'and even carry their own rubbish out afterwards' made me

Re: New bothies (maybe)?
Sounds very similar to the Norwegian DNT hytte/mountain cabin system that works so well there; largely due to the respectful use by the members/users. The honesty system in the unmanned ones works well and I hope this can be brought to the UK without too many issues.
Seems to function OK on the Elan estate in mid-Wales (non-MBA, no fee, open bothies).
Trashing these open shelters baffles me... and was happening pre-COVID so not a new thing (thinking of a visit to Culra in the early 90's).

I read its as a billionaire plans to build "luxury eco bothies" to charge, presumably, a high price for solitude via the holiday rental market.Sounds very similar to the Norwegian DNT hytte/mountain cabin system that works so well there;
I suspect the only similarity with a bothy is going to be the remote aspect
