Terry Jones RIP
I know RIP threads aren't normal BB fare but he was an infrequent visitor to BB towers, had a house just outside Staylittle and was sometimes to be found in the Star. He lived near a track frequently used on BB events so many will have unknowingly ridden by. A true original and funny man, he battled with Alzheimer's for many years. He'll be missed.

Went to see him introduce Life of Brian at the independent cinema near us a number of years ago, really entertaining guy. His stories of directing a film while running about naked as part of this scene were hilarious

Re: Terry Jones RIP
Was driving when the news came over the wireless of his passing. Had to pull over and have a moment. One of my great heroes and an inspiration to me and my brothers. Bless our favourtie Python.
I'm just going outside ...

Ditto. King Of The Absurd. Laughter is priceless.
One of many of my favourite clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_2P2mFT_ac. "Model Icebreaker" from Tompkinson's Schooldays, Ripping Yarns - one of the highest quality comedy series ever. "It's not a model if it's full-scale Tompkinson". "...but Sir, there's 1500 tons of steel here....". Marvellously absurd.

I too was stopped in my tracks when I saw this in the news yesterday. It's hard to think of any other person beyond my immediate family who has such an influence on the sort of person I am.

Finally, someone else who won't quietly walk away when I tell them I was 17 miles from Graybridge when I was caught by the school leopard, or talk fondly about the train guage outside the town hall. I had begun to think I'd imagined it

Don't set me off! Whinfrey: "Now if you'll excuse me gentlemen I really must go and see George, he's lending me some fishing tackle". "George?". "The Fifth!" - accompanied by a look that only Palin can deliver.
Anyway, back to poor old Terry. It would have been ace if he'd come into the Star on the eve of a BBB event - reckon he'd've loved the absurdity of those too!
