Battery life on Garmin Dakota 20

Post by ssnowman »

I'm using Ni-MH 2500MAH batteries, but only getting 9-10 hours. I've tested the batteries and they are fine.

Does anyone have any tips for getting more battery life by adjusting settings?

Battery save mode. Turns screen off after few seconds is the best way. Stop the auto pause.

Best way (I assume for the bearbones 200??) Is to use lithium batteries. 2 to 3 sets should do you.

Thanks, I've ordered some lithium ones, and it is for BB200.

Lithium's and making sure that as soon as it gets dark you turn the brightness down to the lowest setting should see you right. :-bd

I reckon generally about 22 hours for a set of lithiums in plus zero temps.

I usually get the best part of 2 days riding out of a set.

Off the top of my head:
Turn the screen brightness down
You can set the screen to switch off after 30/60 seconds
plus there are a few other things in the options

Might be worth having a look at the settings mentioned here - https://www.navigation-professionell.de ... -settings/

Set the screen to power off after 10 seconds. This is usually enough time to see you are still on the track as this unit is not much use for anything else. I can get about two days of about 18 hours a day use (tracking and recording) on a set of lithium extremes. Remember to power down when you are sleeping.
