I do have some dots on a map in basecamp, just need the work out how to join them up ~X( also given the triggering of article 50 please feel free to use proper units of measurement once again, feet and miles and a pint of beer please :-bd

"proper units of measurement" - LHC will definitely be in that camp. Our route is 30 leagues long, 1300 fathoms high, our bivi spots will be 2 perches in size, and we'll be consuming several gills of ice-cream on the way. Hopefully our gear won't be in the hundredweights ball park.

It must be rideable, or Stu wouldn't have included it, right?

I've ridden one of the two possible tracks that lead from that GR

plotted the various bothies in the area with the GR.

seems the bothies could have quite a party.

Not doing all the grid references this time around. I have a rather more psychotic plan that sees me bagging Veloviewer explorer squares from places where the bike might be better placed on my back than on the ground...

...judging by that, and the ridiculous elevation I'm already seeing, it's going to be a long, hard weekend.

It's bloody addictive!

I'm at 13x13 max square, which i'm quite pleased with. Actually I have three of them next to each other so without a huge amount more work I can get to 15x15. Will get harder after that

All good fun!

I've an L-shape of seven 12x12 max squares all overlapping. There's one square that I'm not going to be able to do on a bike that is blocking me from going to 16x16 - lots of signs saying "no cycling" and the one track goes through that farm. If I'd been on Strava when doing my BGR training then most of my missing squares would be filled in.

Anyway, this is way off topic.

That would be a very impressive max square!

We need a VV competition for the WRT. Biggest max square generated from the WRT maybe?

I think you'd need to do some sort of calculation to include the waypoints or you could just pootle down to where the towns are and make a fairly massive square pretty easily.

Basecamp is making me very sweary, any one got any tips apart from get a paper map. I've used ridewithgps to plot routes for other rides but it's got no way of importing the waypoints. Help!

If this is your first time then paper maps can be a great help.

Dont try and get too technical, it just makes things complicated.
I've never used anything fancy, just bikehike to draw a route.

First of all you'll have the 'shape' of the GR's (one window)

In the other window start to plot out where you may want to go on day one.
How far do you want to ride/supplies?
You'll probably have 8 hours of day light so think about distances.
Save

New route from where you think you may stop Saturday night.
Where are you going for lunch, how far and how long may it take you to get there.
Again maybe 6 hours
Save

New route. Maybe start to head back to BB towers
Again do you want to visit the pub/spar/chippy
Again maybe 6 hours
Save

Sunday morning, same again. No rush to get back theres plenty of tea for everyone.

Think of it like eating a huge elephant cake. Small bites and it becomes easier :-bd

Dont think you can, see above ^^^^

Just keep base camp on one screen and on the other plot your route in bikehike.

Think in trying to use technology make it 'easier' you're making your life more complicated.

You used to be able to import them into GPSies. Not sure when that stopped working.

You can find WRT way points on GPSies here: http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=wdwxaxvigbkhjmbw (on that base you can create your very own track)

My first revision has me at 8,372m of ascent... most of it seemingly on the first day.

Edit - Hmm... my route shares a hell of a lot in common with the Cambrian Trail. As I'm planning on doing that at some point, I think I might make some changes so I'm not covering the same ground.

Perhaps because it was a first attempt and tried to create a (300km) route between all the points so wasn't much use?

Thanks anyway....
Thank you Alex :-bd
