I'm going to be out for a few days in an area with a frequently very high fire risk (obviously not Wales at the moment ).
Given that I really don't want to be responsible for setting fire to a large part of France, I've put my meths burner to one side and am going with carrying a fairly hefty gas cylinder and stove.
Does this sound wise or over cautious? I know it's early in the year but apparently it's been a pretty dry winter here.

Well done for taking the threat seriously but I'm not convinced you'd be any safer with gas rather than meths ... whether set fire to France or not will largely depend on how careful you are rather than what type of stove you have.

Mmm, this is me unfortunately, if it can be kicked over it will .
I think you're right about relative risks, but i've just been doing a bit of reading and it seems the authorities may be more tolerant of gas stoves except in the highest risk times, when they ban everything including access.

How about a 'spill proof' meths stove?
