What pegs?
Maybe a bit STW for here but what are people using/recommend?
I have/am currently using the following:
Alpkit Y-beams which bend far too easily.
'standard' style tent pegs that came with my destroyed Vango Banshee and actually aren't bad, but I've still bent some.
Titanium pegs from my Laser 2 which are surprisingly good but really hard to see/easy to lose in the ground.
Naturally I want something reliable, strong and good for as many surfaces as possible (up to the point where a peg just isn't going to work)...and the moon on a stick too.

Re: What pegs?
A mixture of Alpkit titanium pegs (for show) and pegs from an old, and now landfill, Wild Country Supernova. In fact I made my tarp poles from its skeleton

Re: What pegs?
Having sacrificed a few lightweight Ti pegs to the heather gods*, I reckon that might just be my next purchase.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Or treat yourself - http://www.bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/s ... encil-pegs
(* Yes - I should really have put some heatshrink or something on them)

You'd be amazed at what I can break.Chew wrote:Hard to bend unless you're really hamfisted
(also they're essentially the Vango pegs I already have)

Re: What pegs?
My tent came with Dac titanium 'v' pegs, so i use those, served well so far in some pretty tough dried ground
Previously I used cheap Alu Y pegs by karrimor, worked well, light, but quite sharp to put in or pull out, especially harsh on cold frigid fingers
And for high stress areas, tough ground, or to support tension from my hammock tarp, I use homemade pegs.
Cut up CroMoly Steel box section to make big V pegs, Father used to sell metal for a living and had these made up and tempered, for when you really need Man-sized stakes
Just don't ask what they weigh

You might have to expand on that it appears to be a common term on the internet.Taylor wrote:Snow claws

A mix
I use whatever is appropriate on the vital points and use the rest to tack down the flappy bits.
