Inspire others - what's on your Christmas list?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I don't have one and when asked what I'd like, the only answer I could dream up was, 'er nothing'. So, what exciting stuff's on your Christmas list? Please speak up - I'm hoping for inspiratation.

Moi? I bought my own and got my parents and wifey to give me the money back, so bought myself Arcteryx waterproof (but not quite waterproof) top and bottoms which will hopefully be spot on for the fat bike. Got both at half price, so snapped them up before they disappeared :-bd

Just saw on singletrack that someone has brought out a book on woodcutting, could be up your street?!

Haven't done Christmas presents in years (we go away now instead), but when we did, I generally preferred unusual things that I'd have never bought for myself.

I got a friend of mine a woodworking course as he always talked about enjoying it when he was at school. Bought another friend a fish tank as their office was a bit drab. Cool presents I've got included things like a "Molecular" cookery kit and a breadmaker (I enjoy food, what can I say).

A pair of slippers. Was actually going to ask for M&S ones but I quite fancy some of those down ones that pack up really compact.

Is 'Inspired to ride' worth adding to my list? ... I find Ride the Divide just about bearable (made much better by Alan's Phone in) and Reveal the path truly awful.

(A bike industry hero of sorts)

And

A print or framed print-out of the poster rather than the film. I just like the artwork, plus personal value.

On a similar line to a RTD movie poster, in 2013 I was given a canvas photo-print of a pic I took in the Wyoming basin - this sort of thing, a photo that's turned into a paint/print image -
http://www.my-picture.co.uk/canvas-prin ... 0080158106
It's just a dirt road pic but anything like that with memories attached is nice. Got another one of a winter sunrise in Wales from my first proper bivi, bought my parents one of their fave spot in France.

James, I found Grant Petersens book in the Oxfam bookshop for a quid ... I like his thinking

I shall add Inspired to ride to the list alongside the Sturmey Archer T shirt it now contains :-bd

Actually, how can I forget, my other present is not cooking for a dozen family members this year. Success :-bd My house can stay messy without actually last minute clean

Baking utensils. Yes you read that right. I had to give up on my previous indoors hobby of painting model miniatures because of my back problems so my new indoors hobby is baking. Think I might turn into a fatty if I'm not carefull though. Oh, and a Helly Hansen base layer top, my previous one died this summer after eighteen years of sterling service. Tried some others but they are just not the same.

Another guide list thingie floated past (apologies if it was one of you guys that posted it in bike and bivi facebook page!)

Also I picked up the Dave Barter anthology a while back - was a great read as it covered all sorts of cycling stuff. Got it on kindle but a physical book would be nice http://www.amazon.co.uk/Obsessive-Compu ... ave+barter :-bd (he's on here too isn't he? that'll be a fiver mate  )

Allen & Heath Zed R16, a Kemper profiler or a Moog Sub Phatty. I highly doubt I'll see any of 'em, but can't hurt to wish.

A Lezyne micro floor drive hv mini pump and while I was considering all things inflation I've also dipped my toe into CO2 with some cartridges and an inflator head for my commute as recommended by someone not a million miles away.

Toying with the idea of buying Inspired To Ride but I'm not sure if I'll be put off by the American commentary... does that make me a bad person?
Wait for me...
