I've just mirrored this here; I'll leave it up unless Dave asks me to kill it or the bandwidth use gets a bit ridiculous. That shouldn't be a problem though, this box has loads: http://cloud.danielgroves.net/Ua6XFyFEQ6/

got the maps on basecamp and now on sd card in my 800 unit, now I,m not the sharpest tool in the draw when it comes to pc's, I can see all the routes on b/camp and on my unit the EWE one runs by me,i can see it but how do I select it as a route, or any of the others,
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.

You can't select that as a route to follow, what you seeing there is just a map of the route. You have a couple of options

1/ just ride with the map on display and make sure the wee pointer showing your position stays on the route

2/ find a gpx file of the route and select that in the Where To menu

That would be great. It might be that mine have the right names, in which case it's a different problem, but at least I'd know!

Right now it's not a deal breaker, for the trip this weekend I'll use Dave's maps, and for the one in a couple of weeks I'll use the OS ones. But having both together would be great!
So I've just had a look on my etrex; I have the following on my microSD card:

"GBDiscoverer50K_All.img"
"gmapsuppukbpv1.img"

no subdirectories or anything, just those and I can just switch maps by enabling and disabling them on the "map setup" menu -> along with track north options etc. etc.

Having the same issue as robbie up there. It does not appear on the 'select map' section. I tried to put these maps on my current sd card (an ioffer one) but there was insufficient space so transferred to a larger memory card.

Have you dropped them into the Garmin directory on sd card?

I put the sd card in the garmin unit and transferred the maps to it, it automatically put the garmin stuff on the card and it works ok,

I have purchased a new sd card to put the new map on as insufficient space on the current one. so sd card is blank, I have tried dragging the file into on the card when it is in the card reader, File appears on there but cant find it when I put sd in garmin, I have also tried dragging it into the garmin itself when conected by usb, Just keeps saying insufficient space like it wont let it select sd card? I'm a bit lost now tbh

Robbie, you need to erase the card. Then create a directory called Garmin on the card. Then drag the map file to this directory, then it will work

A Directory looks like a Folder in Windows Explorer. So, if you're using Windows, open up the SD Card in File Manager/Explorer or whatever your version is called and either click "New Folder" on the menu bar or Right-Click with your Mouse and select New...Folder. Call it "Garmin".

You can still download these with the links higher up in the thread.

Windows exe: http://cloud.danielgroves.net/Ua6XFyFEQ6/

Garmin files: http://cloud.danielgroves.net/Jr3mzkfNj/

I don't use Windows, so if you want to use the exe option someone else will have to walk you through that one, otherwise with the Garmin files just copy the file onto your GPS at the root, or onto the SD card.

Is there an easy way of converting either the windows or garmin version to work with Basecamp on a mac?

You cannot convert them. But you can use this little hack which works for me:-

You create a virtual gamin on your desktop using this

http://www.javawa.nl/virtualdevice.html

Then copy the img file to the Garmin directory of this device, jobs-a-gooden

Yep Thanks Dave, I currently do it that way to avoid having to plug the garmin in each time.
