That clears it up, thanks. I must have missed an update somewhere.GregMay wrote:Pretty sure this is the most up to date list of scratched riders:
Re: Highland Trail 2015
I think orange means they're no longer in the race, but the updating of the scratch classification isn't very good. No idea why.
Greg confirms 27 scratches so far.
So I think there's 23 left in it?

Re: Highland Trail 2015
The Group Start lists 45 riders, the others are all doing an ITT. If that's now 27 scratched there should be 18 left from last Saturday morning but I make it 20?
Figured it out. Rich and Tom Siepp and Ilan Rubenstien were both marked as ITT. So, 18 of 45 still "racing".

Re: Highland Trail 2015
The orange is dubbed - Safety Orange.
If we mark them as a scratch they come off the map altogether. Due to the weather, and safety concerns, we figured an alternate colour would be apt so we could still track people in case something happened.
Orange = out of race.
Not that it's a race of course....

Oh her spot shows her doubling back upstream - Conditions with the rains must be 'challenging'

Bothy to dry out and wait for the river to not be in spate I suspect.
Smart choice.

Indeed. Shame to lose time but dry out, rest, food could all be good for morale

Re: Highland Trail 2015
Rickie Cotter is going well though it seems that there's some odd data being reported such as 290 miles to the next checkpoint when Alan G just ahead of her is but 13 miles away. There seem to be big gaps in her SPOT history so it may be that she went in to stealth mode at some point. Actually her SPOT data is just weird, maybe Greg can shed some light on it.

The running joke on Twitter (@wildcatgear or @HT_550) is that she has a cloaking device, a bit like a Klingon vessel. Occasionally she'll de-cloak and we can see where she is, other times, we just have to guesswhitestone wrote:Rickie Cotter is going well though it seems that there's some odd data being reported such as 290 miles to the next checkpoint when Alan G just ahead of her is but 13 miles away. Mike Toyn is finished. 5 days, 8 hours and lose change.
Jenny still having trouble with the river crossing. Must be a pretty daunting and lonely place out there right now

It's shagged it down for days. Also Alan told us at the start that Fisherfield crossing was mandatory to get a confirmed ride. The road diversion is not on the cards this year.

Easy for him to say. How tall is he exactly?Dave Barter wrote:It's shagged it down for days. Also Alan told us at the start that Fisherfield crossing was mandatory to get a confirmed ride. The road diversion is not on the cards this year.

Re: Highland Trail 2015
In previous years, riders have been permitted to get to the loch shore, then back track to take the coast road (which would ensure it took you longer). That's definitely changed, has it?Dave Barter wrote:It's shagged it down for days. Also Alan told us at the start that Fisherfield crossing was mandatory to get a confirmed ride. Yes Ian, Alan said they had to cross 'no matter how shagging deep'* to get a time.

Re: Highland Trail 2015
So I had a cracking ride yesterday through Fisherfield, it is fantastic, but the macaroni cheese in Poolewe has sat heavy in my stomach all day and I've not been eating. So, I have scratched, as going into Glen Affric tonight with the weather as it is would make me a liability.
Enrico is going well, trying to get to the youth hostel in glen affric tonight.
The weather this year has been a major factor - the trails are generally either bogs or rivers.

Surely if it gets to a point where it just isn't safe allowances have to be made...Not saying it has but who would know?
