My Cumulus M350 down quilt arrived this morning from https://www.bivvyonsummit.de (5 days from order so pretty quick). Seems a very well made product. It will be getting a full test shortly when we do the Cairngorms outer loop in a few weeks.

165mm cranks for the good road bike and mtb.

Often think I should get some 165 cranks, what make have you gone for and how do you find them on the MTB, are they really "spinny" and do you get enough leverage on them?
What knee problem did you have?

Ray, I had knee pain behind the kneecap on long rides. Had a bike fit and the bloke took one look at me (5ft7) and my bike setup and hinted that my cranks looked too long, which was supported by my knee pain symptom , then he measured loads of angles, adjusted saddle height down and looked at pedalling motion etc, and convinced me that the correct length is much less than the 175's I have. His graph of leg plus torso vs crank length supported the 165 length. I ended up getting ultegra and xt from chain reaction (not many places stock that length). I am trying them this weekend.

I'm the same lofty dimensions as you Steve and find shorter cranks suit me much better and mean less bend in my dodgy knee.

In other news ... some cuben arrived. I unwrapped it and stuck it on the side. An hour later, Dee asked what I'd been using this old plastic sheet for and if I'd finished with it could she put it in the recycling bin ... I'm glad she asked first

I also need shorter cranks. Just got Rotor 160mm on the road bike, but struggling to find anything that will fit my crappy PressFit GXP BB. Never buying another frame that is not threaded BSA...

Just ordered an alivio crankset in 165mm from crc. For £33 its got to be worth a shot and if I like it i'll upgrade later.

Waited a couple of months only for these to come in now it's got to go back going
a 31.8 diameter tube just doesn't fit into a 31.6 hole

Any suggestions or recommendations where to get one great fully received

You could try getting your seat tube reamed out to 31.8. Don't blame me if it goes wrong though!

RSP Tourlite rear light for the rear rack on my new Arkose 2. Was christened on the commute to work this morning, though it was very sunny so wasn't really needed. I didn't know until I'd tried setting up the tarp and realised that I had no idea how to get it how I wanted it.

Some new Shimano MT91 boots to replace the MT90s that are now beginning to come apart at the seams after several years of regular hard (ab)use. They can stay in the box for a while longer while I eke out the last from the old favourites though
