As points of interest. Now, as for the routes I KNOW that you can upload the GPX to your GPS device and follow the track, but I don't like this as it obscures the map somewhat, so I have rendered a different style as you can see below:-

This is a small portion of the HT550, you can see that it is labelled and done as a transparent set of lines so you can see the map below. The track is missing in this case as I stupidly forgot to include rights of way in the render. Most of the map data is using Ordnance Survey vector district, not open street map and as such should be a lot better for roads. I have used openstreetmap for footpaths and bridleways etc.. as OS do not publish that data. I've also added contour lines. In 2015 OS are releasing a new vector dataset down to 1:10000 scale which will include accurate building shapes and a lot more detail. I'll be testing it all on GPS shortly, but being vector based the maps should display very clearly as opposed to the raster based OS maps which only really work at a few zoom levels.
So, two questions.
1) If I did this and included all of the UK ITT's would there be any interest? Let's be clear I am NOT going to sell these maps, they will be completely free BUT I ain't hosting them either, as they will end up at 1Gb+ for UK coverage. Maybe someone else could do this, or sell SD cards with the maps on, or we have some sort of model where we each agree to copy and pass on a card (like giffgaff) ?
2) What else should go on the maps? Remember I have to be able to find a free dataset that I can import and geocode (place on the map).
If it's a goer I'll put a load more effort into it over the coming weeks and try and publish a V1 map ready for next year's events/good weather.
