Think they did, but believe the ones I have are made of a different & tougher steel materialjohnnystorm wrote:Didn't Ian's break......Mart wrote:Ging to try me some of these, first impressions are that these are pretty robust

Been trying to find the thread where Iain detailed his experience with then but failing - Where is it??
EDIT
Found it ... on page 70 of this very thread. The words i was rembering were
'To be fair, they were the very early alloy ones which were replaced promptly. If you've got the steel ones, I'm sure they're bomb-proof'

Re: The post man's been ...
When I contacted them about mind breaking they advised I had steel ones. I opted for alloy, but have since switched my rear hub to 15mm bolts some the alloy ones get used on lighter duties like seat clamps and stem bolts, for which they are perfectly fine.Mart wrote:Think they did, but believe the ones I have are made of a different & tougher steel materialjohnnystorm wrote:Didn't Ian's break......Mart wrote:Ging to try me some of these, first impressions are that these are pretty robust

I also have a jersey today, finally got to the post office to pick it up.
I went with the large and there is just the right amount of breathing space. Really like it, nice one Stu and Dee. :)
Also arriving today was cheap super star bottom bracket, £10 in their sale and 2 sets of their triple chain rings, Seemed crazy to not stock up at £19 a set.

You'll need a small tarp to cover your head as you can't bury yourself in it as you can with other bivi bags that cling to your sleeping bag.benp1 wrote:Borah bivy just got dropped off by the postman

Last night in the drizzle/low cloud with my head under a siltarp 1 draped over the bike and my legs open to the elements my Borah bag worked perfectly, my tip would be practice pitching so you can tie up the midge net while laying down before you need to do it in the middle of nowhere and in the dark.
I fully zipped the netting up as there were loads of creepy crawlies around and I'm a wimp

Re: The post man's been ...
Will always be used with a tarp, it's my third bivi bag but my only one that's isn't properly waterproof
Need to play with the midge netting set up. Had an extra couple of loops added to the top so I can peg it down in case I slide around, and had the midge netting changed so it's a window rather full hood to stop any splashes coming in from the top

Re: The post man's been ...
Yesterday the postie delivered new Superstar floating rotors in 180. I need more stopping power, and also new seals and phenolic pistons for the rear hope x2, as the pistons were scratched, and when they got really hot, leaked. In the south downs double a couple of weeks ago, i could smell burning brake fluid, not nice, or safe. So did a total rebuild of the rear caliper and bled thoroughly.
All fitted and working beautifully.

Re: The post man's been ...
Carbon Chinese seat post finally arrived for my cross bike. Got a charge spoon saddle that I was holding off on fitting. Put them both on tonight and went out for a spin. So comfortable!

£100 Etrex 20 from Handtec arrived yesterday, as did OS GB maps from ioffer. Very happy with both. Oh, and the £4 ebay bar mount performed brilliantly in the full OTB, twisted bars and bent brake lever incident That I engineered for the test ride.

Re: The post man's been ...

Re: The post man's been ...
The upgrades process is moving foreword nicely, just picked up some new front bearings, 9mm axle adapters, and hope headset from Evens and a new 9mm DT Swiss RWS axle, and four pedro tyres levers to replace all of my broken ones arrives yesterday.
Tomorrow, just need to pop the bike into a shop now to get them to stick the headset in, pop the race crown off my old forks so they can be sold and to pop the new on on my new forks for me.
Getting quite excited to ride the Inbred some new forks on now!

Hi Josh. I hand delivered that about two weeks ago as after I had put a stamp on it i realized i was passing that way. Must have put it through the wrong letter box, sorry. Glad you got them though.Joshvegas wrote:From the postman initially but from the hands of a very sheepish neighbour... One envelope addressed to joshvegas with some ferry tickets to tiree. Cheers Ray!
