Do you carry a knife?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Do you take a knife as part of your kit? Is it a whopping great big thing capable of felling trees in one swipe?

I take a knife, it's a Spyderco bug and it's tiny but oddly I've always found it big enough to do whatever I've needed ... here it is.

I carry a leatherman squirt useful enough and not too heavy.

I did carry a Victorinox lock knife on the WRT in case of bears ;)

I carry a Wenger EvoGrip 81 Pocket Knife . . . it has a pair of tweezers in it, which I forgot about and would have been very helpful after putting my hand in a gorse bush over the weekend.

It's an amazing little thing, admittedly it's not the most comfortable tool to use but that's far outweighed by it's usefulness. Even managed to saw off a rear cassette spoke guard that fouled whilst we were out on a ride.

Plus it goes through airport security.

Mini blade on the tiny Gerber pliers-multi-tool thing in the tool kit. For longer trips with more cooking a Leatherman lock knife goes in the bag.

Any one ever have hassle for carying a blade*?

*obviously a little penknife on a camping trip, not a broadsword in the high street!
