Columbia store at Cheshire Oaks stocks mountain hardware clothing. Just got some Dry Q softshell pants for the rovaniemi race next year. £36 instead of £375 (that's not a typo). Have plenty of bargains in. Also got a windstopper hat for £3.

For anyone looking for a cheap 29er, Merlin have some BeOne bikes heavily reduced, the specs don't look bad for the price.

£26.68 for a solo tent (inc delivery). Perhaps not for when you really need to rely on your kit but for a newbie wanting to have a go it isn't bad. 1.5kg.
I saw on the same page there was a wisperlite style gas bottle top stove knock off for £4.08. Perhaps not the best idea.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
The bike I'm building up won't have fork bottle mounts so I was looking for a bumbag, er, fannybag, I mean Lumbar/Waist pack.
Saw these reduced at Blacks, looks pretty good for £20 (+postage but %6 cashback through Quidco)

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I'm really tempted by one of these but I think I'm really looking to get the water off my back. Maybe 2 small bottles though would be alright and it gives you a small amount of say food storage as well.johnnystorm wrote:The bike I'm building up won't have fork bottle mounts so I was looking for a bumbag, er, fannybag, I mean Lumbar/Waist pack.

Only having a full sized frame bag I'm struggling with how I might carry water any other way when running a suspension fork, not that I have bottle cages for my salsa fargo fork anyway...

I guess they aren't going to be £20 forever either.
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
bottle cage, jubilee clips and a wrap of old inner tube for paintwork protection around the fork leg has proven robust for me in the past. Ugly though.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I've got a Hydrapak version of that which uses a bladder and bitevalve rather than bottles. Only used it once, maybe I should put it on the Classifieds! (apologises for flagrant hijack)

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I like bum bags as you don't usually notice you are wearing them when they are on but then I rarely carry water bottles in mine and two full 700ml bottles which come with this one will weigh quite a bit. Having said that I am tempted by it as mine is starting to show signs of it's age. I usually stow fruit/snacks or inner tubes in the bottle holder bit.

Twitchy right fore-finger today...
(a pair of Jones Bend bars may be coming to a classifieds forum near you soon)

I am experimenting with one of these in my frame pack.vorlich wrote:bottle cage, jubilee clips and a wrap of old inner tube for paintwork protection around the fork leg has proven robust for me in the past. Ugly though.

I have attached a longer camelback hose from an old bladder and run that to my bars which I hold in place with a retractable lift pass reel. Did use a bladder but this takes up less space and doesn't upset the load as the contents diminish.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Ooh, that's a good idea. I'm keen to avoid bladders as I imagine they'll be easier to puncture, filling them up is a faff and I can't just lob it in the dishwasher on my return.Brothersmith wrote:

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Monkii cages through Cyclemiles do a mount that you can run on forks with a bit of bodging. Think Stu did it.

You're quite sure they are still there?
Ian - thanks for taking temptation out of my way!
Hydration - lots of places have cheapio camelbaks right now (or at least I'm getting lots of emails about them)...
As for Blacks, the physical stores tend to be run by managers/people with little clue, you can find pretty good bargains if you rummage in the corners. I've seen MSR stoves with 50% off and titanium pans and things reduced by quite a lot as well...

Garmin Dakota/Etrex/etc bar mounts £4

A smidge less outrageous than rrp for a small bit of plastic.
