Stove notch

Post by PaulE »

I'm sure I've seen something about this elsewhere, but I'm failing to find it...
My BB 12g stove isn't great, and has issues staying lit when there's a pot on it. Just realised that there's no little notch at the top of it (where the pot sits) whereas both the 8 & 22g ones have a notch.

Before I waste my time and knacker my stove, is there any reason not to just file one in, starting with a very tiny notch and enlarging it or adding another tiny one until it burns as I'd like?

Mine was the same and after a year faffing with lifting the pot on and off again to get it going, I filed a small notch in it. No more problems lighting since.

Splendid! I guessed that it might help, when the stove was working better today and I noticed a bit of match stuck on the rim making a slight air gap...
Thanks

otch is an air bleed but I'm now confused as to why there wasn't one. I do recall they were all made in a single batch, maybe I forgot

Oops!
It now boils a cup of water much more quickly... To anyone who saw me swearing at it making a cup of coffee on last year's bb200 there will be no repeat 😀
