Campsite recommendations for camper van

Post by Rockbus »

Made a promise to myself to use my van more this year (Vw t4).

know there are a few on here with vans so what are your favourite campsites?

Im happy with relatively basic facilities, would prefer nice location, clean and cheap over ones that seem to cost more than a hotel! Allowing camp fires also a big plus

Obviously great if location is good for activities like biking, hiking and SUP.

if there is anything Midlands way (I live in Leamington) that’d be excellent as want a few quick get always after work on a Friday.

What are your favourites?

Borrowdale Valley, Lakes, ticks all those boxes. x5 sites. x4 take vans. (More further up towards Derwent Water).
Derwent Water for paddling, swimming.
The site next to the river allows fires and supplies wood. Pub 5 mins walk. I don't use this one though as it is a bit of a 'free for all' = a bit noisy.
If you haven't been for a while, prices for campsites have almost doubled in the last year or two. At least the ones I know.

Back in May we stayed at Waterside Farm Campsite, Edale, in my van. Great location and nice small site but the area is best out of holiday/peak season if possible.
