Great sneaky midweek bonus bivi to take me up to 11/11 actually 20th of the year.
From work to ace pub The Huntsman in thurlstone. Courtesy bike locks and first drink free as I'd ridden there from Sheffield plus an offer to kip in the pub when Anfy the landlord heard I was planning to bivi out.
Listened to a good local band - Grinah, then ride to nearby langsett woods. Very mild night with stars and everything :)
Nice ride back into work this morning via midhope and then the TPT. Bit drizzly this morning but was still smiling :)

Ha, that's my local. Andy is a recent convert to cycling and comes out regularly with us. I asked him recently whether he knew you from fell running, seems you are a Dark Peak runner. I'm afraid the lure of a warm bed 200 yds down the road trumps bivvying at this time of year.

Its a great local to have! I've known Andy for a good few years. he came out to support the Bob Graham round the day i did mine. i ended up passing within 5 yards of him at the col between green and great gable where he was sheltering from the foul weather in a bothy bag. i didn't spot him at all!
His determination in completing the BG is unparalleled as far as I'm aware; six or seven attempts?
Also love the BG wall of fame at the far end of the pub! Must admit the offer to bivi in the pub did test me a little, but its good to know that the offer is there for future winter outings :)

Decembers live edition. Both myself and hux are currently sat on our bivy bags in the middle of the wyre forest under the canopy of a cosy porch to some random hut. The weather is fine n dry with little wind. How good is life :D pics to follow.
right so here we are a few pics from decembers bivy ( what a great one it was, cheers Hux )
So this is how it started
then we rode off into the dark forest to find the spot
Yes it was a spooky as it looks, unfortunatly it was dark when we arrived and dark when we left this morning as Hux had to be at work for nine ( unlucky son )
Just to prove we were in bivy bags :D oh and i only took my summer bag - big mistake
Roll on Xmas bivy!!! where ever or when ever your next bivying enjoy guys!!

Completed my years bivy challenge on the northern chapter bivy outing last night. One of the few bivys that I've been on with other people. Not that I'm antisocial or anything...
Have actually had 23 bivys, not including camping, so averaging nearly two a month.
Has been great and I will be carrying on next year for sure.

12/12 as well with the Tornado/Winter Bivi.
Some great trips, explored a few new areas and a fair share of type 2 fun

I went back to page 1, just to clarify when you say 'bivy' do you mean bivy bag and/or tarp?
What about a tent (sorry for the newbie question)
"- Only rule is to get out and spend a night in wilderness under appropriate cover."

i missed 2 (or 1 if I am allowed to count Glastonbury - I was under canvas with the bear minimum of facilities so i think it could have been allowed). It will definitely be on my todo list again next year
