Last year I bought a Gopro Hero and have been using it for everything from helmet mounted to long timelapses.
The picture quality has been amazing but I’ve never encountered a more unreliable or buggy firmware ever. I am constantly resetting the camera. Rebooting it or removing the battery to get it to work. It might be that I have a rogue unit but am interested in what other owners think?

Never had a problem with my GoPro 9
Although my Insta 360 one X is a ball ache at times.
Silly question of the day - Have you updated it from GoPros website?

I picked up a DJI Osmo last year and love it. Haven't used a Go Pro other than a reeeeeaaaaalllllly old version years ago so can't really comment on whether it's better or not. Never had to do anything to the firmware. It just works. Maybe not the most intuitive interface but once you get use to it, it's fast with everything you need close to hand.

I've only ever used 'cheap Chinese copies' (currently Akaso, previously DBpower)as I'm too tight to buy a go pro. The quality may not be quite as good, I'm no image connoisseur, and certainly go pro hyperstabilisation is fantastic, but they work for me and not had any issues.
I use a standalone program to edit (magix movie edit) not any apps that come with the camera.
