Re: Global Fat Bike Day 2020
Many, many thanks to NewRetroTom / Tom for the loan of a shifter this evening!
Which means (unless something else explodes/implodes before the rebuild is finished ) I should be good to go on the Bat Fastard for GFBD on the morrow.....
Toot toot!
No sign of that promised snow yet but still plenty of time for things to get ' interesting' before morning.

Ah no, just promised my brother I’d look after their dog tomorrow and I totally forgot what day it was and there may be snow local(ish).
D’oh!! Will manage a short ride on the fat bike at some point though

Edited: [sweaty rant removed from here]
Sorted the shifting but now the headset has disintegrated and the bottom bracket is mostly seized (brand new, installed in January but it was feeling sticky and that's when my back went trying to sort it out - been sat there throughout my double herniated disc rehabilitation and subsequent slow road to recovery).
So I'm having 'Global my Fatbike can go F*©€ itself Day'!
Not sure GMFCGFID is quite as catchy as GFBD but it is what it is.
Just taking a quick temper/sanity break before going back down to attempt to fish the bits of a hope headset clamp thingy out of the inside of a Lauf fork (fell down the steerer into the fork inners - yay!).
Might possibly get out later but not holding my breath.....

Re: Global Fat Bike Day 2020
Overnight rain has made all the remaining snow very soft and mushy. Massive puddles everywhere and you can never be sure what you're riding on.
Undaunted, Ross and I made a beeline for the Duke of Gordon monument. The climb up was interspersed with much swearing and I had to stop to let some air out of the tyres I think I ended up with about 6 psi in the front and 3 in the rear. A bit of footwork got us there and then it was a very sketchy, but also hilarious, descent and return home. A whole 22km in something over 2 hours

Hard to believe it's almost exactly a year ago when we were up there in greater numbers Colin. Needless, to say I can't wait to get up to the area again just as soon as the virus situation permits!

Re: Global Fat Bike Day 2020
Just got back from a very snowy Ribblehead - Cam Head area in the Dales. A lot more snow than we anticipated, quite a bit of hike-a-bike, so ended up shortcutting our intended route.

Not quite the snowy scenes but the best use of a golf course...

I was out on my tod, slithering through some proper sloppy clay. I definitely need to replace the Jumbo Jim on the front. Any recommendations for a winter slop tyre that won’t break the bank? Currently considering a Minion FBF.
