Reg and I are honoured to have Stuart join in our little Virtual Winter Event early in January.
Here's your one and only chance to take revenge on Stuart for all the years of suffering that he's put us through.
Please don't post your single GR now, the big reveal will be mid December
What Reg and I want is for you to put your hand up here on this thread if you want to be one of the 20 to choose and sponsor a single Grid Reference for Stuart to ride to over the same weekend that we are riding.
Stuarts Grid ref is
SN 871976
We had 5 weeks to chose him one GR within a 40km radius of Bear Bones Towers.
Then after the event weekend if Stuart gets to your Grid Ref you pay £10 Shelter 50% and 50% to https://thewallich.com/ via Reg (RIP) with the collection bucket

3) Thenorthwind - #BigClue Thenorthwind promises put in a 2nd tenner to the pot for a photo of the "Rain Gauge"

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
After the 5th or so killer climb (I started at Hay on Wye), by which point I wasn't even trying to ride em. I actually thought of this very scenario... I think...
But after Stu explained in one of the threads that he doesn't try to make em hard for 'hards sake', except for 2014 off course, I'm convinced that he only makes the routes as best as he can to ensure we all have fun (I'm not actually laughing out loud but am giggling quietly at reading that back... 'him... fun... for us').
I'm convinced that's how he makes em and didn't add about 5 or 7, 20 percent road climbs just to break our backs. So, I'm just gonna say, please go easy on whichever nasty climbs n hikes you send him on

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
Great idea.
I've not (yet) had the pleasure to take part in a BB event, so I don't qualify.
Kind of just realising, that I should play the GR game.
I do play, but it's funny/weird place names or mountain tops which are eponymous for beers etc.

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
I'm up for this! More than happy to find a beautiful spot on a remote bridleway for Stuart to visit. For a good cause too; after all we choose to spend nights out in inhospitable conditions for some kind of masochistic pleasure, some people are out there through circumstance.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

No Jon... But since he's doing it for charity I will throw a tenner on his behalf into my Yemen-HungerCrisis fundraiser. No hiking or biking or pain (on our side) involvedJohnClimber wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 9:45 amSo do you want in on this or not?redefined_cycles wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 1:01 am After the 5th or so killer climb (I started at Hay on Wye), by which point I wasn't even trying to ride em. Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
Had quick chat with Stu to ensure he's happy with it: I'd like to offer https://thewallich.com/ as an additional charity - "Welsh Homelessness And Rough Sleeping Charity". It's based in Newtown, Stu's nearest big town, and covers only Wales, which seems appropriate bearing in mind our base at BBT. You can specify this or Shelter when we get round to asking for your dosh.

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
I’ll play. Great causes to raise for.
If I had known this was going to happen while I was in the ‘BB200 2020 field of turnips’ it would have cheered me right up!
What’s the best way to identify ‘field of turnips’ on an OS map I wonder...

9 GR's left to pick.
Lets have your names who want to donate a tenner (if he gets to your GR) and see Stuart suffer

I don't think there's any need for concern, at this rate we'll still be riding this years route. You mean BB200/300 - 2021
May the bridges you burn light your way
