Re: What are you drinking now?
I like to think of beer as one of the essential items for a night out
Oh I’m currently drinking ‘Roaster Coaster’ which apparently is a nitro imperial Vietnamese coffee stout! And brewed by Evil twin/ brew dog.
I’ve just noticed it’s 9% ! So it’s goodnight from him

We’re all individuals, except me.
I woke up this morning but I’m still in the dark

Re: What are you drinking now?
9%! Blimey. You could use that as hand sanitiser .
My 'shop local' holiday parting shot was nipping in to Thornbridge Brewery HQ in Bakewell (the scales were temporarily tipped in my favour because Mrs P had just bought some new shoes in the town) and picking a few things up. I blame Landslide for this new taste for very chewy stouts and porters.

... but they'll have to wait as she says I have to forswear the demon drink post-hols for a while. So what I'm actually drinking is a very fine Darjeeling out of my favourite 'Newport Transporter Bridge' mug.

Yorkshire tea, of course
Only because it’s too early for a beer, or is it

Look at it the other way - it's not too late for a beer.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Nice cup of Earl Grey tea
Re: What are you drinking now?
Birra dell' Oste.
A local beer from Le Prese, Val Poschiavo.
It says 'Stile Golden Ale' and is slightly bitter. Good stuff.
Overlooking the valley and slowly getting cold. Just a roll down the slope to the cabin.
Good times, despite a hurting ankle.

That's good. There's no room for guilt when it comes to salted caramel flavour beer....

Re: What are you drinking now?
Not been to Thornbridge HQ before. There's an outdoor drinking area under a giant gazebo thing. Nip into the shop and buy your selected draught then stand outside quaffing it. On my visit, there was one bloke stood there in his waterproofs looking a bit forlorn. Getting a bit desperate when you're having a lone pint at half past ten on a Thursday morning under a gazebo in a windswept industrial estate!

Re: What are you drinking now?
Hmm. Come to think of it, maybe some would say it's a bit desperate sitting in the pissing rain under a tree in a quarry in the Peak District at half past ten at night with a bottle of Cocoa Wonderland which is probably a future option for me!

My bank balance is getting shattered by Keith Tulloch wines. A local wine shop opening has caused havoc in our house.

Have thus far resisted contributing to this thread, at serious risk of revealing the true hipster within, but as it's Stout Day (no idea who decided that; it's always stout day in my book):
A chocolate strawberry pear vanilla cake stout @ 12.3% from a Swedish brewery that my friend in Sweden sent over for me when his girlfriend went to visit him

Re: What are you drinking now?
Chapeau, 6 Degrees North Triple hop Belgian like nectar in a glass. Then back to Old Jock (bulk buy from brewery would hate it to go off )

Re: What are you drinking now?
That is utterly insane, and surely tops anything so far (apart from the tap water one maybe!). I like it. Photo? What type of rehabilitation is provided afterwards, and is it measured in years?thenorthwind wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 10:29 pm A chocolate strawberry pear vanilla cake stout @ 12.3% from a Swedish brewery that my friend in Sweden sent over for me when his girlfriend went to visit him

Re: What are you drinking now?
I’m not a big real ale fan but
OMG Enville Ale
Sadly “on Tap” I think it’s only sold locally
So next time your travels bring you through the Kinver part of the West mids make it a must have
The cat at Enville is well worth a visit and it’s far enough away from the hussle and bussle to pitch a tent and enjoy more than one

It was International Stout Day apparently, so why not (though every day should be stout day in my book). I got half way through it and remembered I was giving blood this morning Should be a nice little bonus for whoever gets that!
It's not even that strong by the stands of these crazy Scandinavians. Check out Omnipollo for some completely bonkers why-would-you-do-that? type stuff.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Astounding. Looks like a glass of treacle! And a tin of beer with a picture of cake on it - well that's it, you've gone to heaven. I wonder if there's a "Lemon Drizzle Stout"????

Woah.... there's still time to reconsider... think of all those B vitamins you'll be missing out on......."B vitamins have a direct impact on your energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism".... don't say we didn't warn you . I mean really, what's a few calories when the alternative is being slumped in a chair with no energy at all, your brain turned to mush, and your cells going on strike (*)?
(*) Yes I realise this sounds like a BB200/300 coming-back-down dark room...
