Re: A very off topic plea for help
Dear all, sorry for resurrecting this thread but wanted to let those that contacted Mum know she passed away peacefully last week. Her fight was incredible. My Dad passed away last year and Mum carried on resolutely at home as independent as possible despite being confined to a chair permanently. She continued to receive cards and postcards from many and each one buoyed her up. I have so many messages from her letting me know that something new had arrived.
In late June Mum's cancer got the better of her and she was transferred into care with a 2 week prognosis. Typical of Mum she rallied and was her normal self until about 10 days ago when she finally lapsed into unconsciousness. Even then she fought on and passed away peacefully last Thursday. We were privileged to have had so much time with her and also fortunate that the care home recognised our situation and found a way to make visits happen.
The reason for typing this is that I am at her house now and have just found the massive box of card/messages/pictures/artwork etc... you all sent. It's quite emotional to see it all. I want to thank each and every one of you for bringing a tiny bit of light into the struggle of the strongest woman I will ever know,
Thanks
Dave

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum's passing Dave. Never an easy time to deal with such a major bereavement, but Covid has made it so much harder. Take care and try to make sure you make time to look after yourself too.

Sorry to hear this Dave, sounds like she was a real fighter. 18 months since my mum died, I think of her most days.

Genuinely sorry to hear the news Dave. Sending bits and bobs probably gave me more pleasure than it gave your mum receiving them, so thank you for the opportinity.

Re: A very off topic plea for help
As the ‘epitaph’ on my emails stays:
“It seems to scatter the snow, the storm that in the garden makes the flowers fall...
No ! What fades and passes is myself...”
So we must understand how precious these moments are...
We are all going down the same route, some realise that a lot more than others...
On the one hand it is very sad... but there’s such an awful lot that we do not understand...
Best wishes Dave to you and your family, and celebrate her life.

Sorry to hear that Dave. It's clear that her fighting spirit has been passed on, and I'm sure you've made her very proud. As others have said, make sure to look after yourself, even if it seems impossible at the moment.
