Just lost 15 minutes but that's amusing and I'm feeling vindicated... 'Personalise your home screen' on a fridge? FFS how long do you spend standing in front of it?johnnystorm wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 11:25 pm Yeah, I do follow @internetofshit to be horrified daily. I'll pass, it'll still get furred up with limescale in 6 months and need replacing. An yes I'm too cheap to buy a water filter.

@ James, Zippy, JS....IOT appliances...they are nearly always the point of failure due to bad security. If you're into vapourwave and internet exploits, Shodan2000 is retro-tastic and shows plenty of compromised camera systems.

@ James - they are compromised machines the world over...industrial systems...cams...databases. I run it on the side of my screen to watch to new compromises....and sometimes get an interesting soundtrack. It's another world.

Hmm. Just testing my Exped HL mat. Finished blowing it up, looked up to check it and the joint between the middle two channels has blown along the whole length. No, I didn't overinflate. Ho hum. Lasted me a fair while I suppose.

This happened to my Exped pillow. I'd knelt on it while inflated. It still works fine. Not as usable when it happens with a mat though.

If it's less than two years old EXped will replace it free of charge.RIP wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 4:01 pm Hmm. Just testing my Exped HL mat. Ta B. Sadly going on for five now. I did ring Lyon and they said "not much you can do mate".
Maybe I'll rip all the welds and use it as a bivvy bag!

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Thanks peeps. But signed up for another five-year stretch with Exped, hoping to get out for good behaviour.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Seeing as this is the bargain thread, you can save money on a limescale filter by moving to Scotland instead.

White vinegar, available in Wilko, or in your local cash and carry as "pickling vinegar" or "non-brewed condiment" in a 5l bottle for a couple of quid. Fill kettle (enough to cover the scale anyway) and leave it for a few hours. Most will float off, some might need a bit of scrubbing/brushing.techno wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:38 pmWith some water I presumeBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 12:14 pm Dropping half a lemon in a kettle with descale it really well without going to the trouble of a relocation

I use citric acid. Same as a lemon but comes in powder form.
