Why Fatbike?
As I'm stuck inside like most other folk it got me thinking about when I could get out to make my next film. Then again as I've got the time I thought why not put something together with the footage I've already got.
So a lot of people ask why do you use a fatbike when a 'normal' bike if fine?
Hence my new film, Why Fatbike? I hope you enjoy it...

Re: Why Fatbike?
enjoyed that.
i dont ride a fat bike, but i do ride a 29+ bike. main reason is that the strength and support from a large tyre/wider rim works fantastic with a much heavier rider like myself.

I've walked some of those areas you're cycling. Can't imagine riding them! Fatbike starts to make sense..
PS what are you editing your footage with? The black borders around the exported video are because the frame size of your sequence settings don't match the size of your source footage :)

Cheers
Yep itching to get back to Newborough myself!
As for the Vir Vortis, it looks the part. I think there's a couple on here who has one? Fat bikes are so much fun!
with regard to my editing software, I use Pinnacle Studio 21. I hadn't changed out so was puzzled to see the black bit around the edge. Will make sure I check the end part before exporting next time.

Re: Why Fatbike?
Never used that software, but most NLEs refer to the editing space as a timeline, and the specific assembly of clips as a "sequence" (or something to that effect) - you'll be wanting to make sure that the settings for the sequence and export match the frame size of the source footage :) (or your source footage is scaled up/down to the sequence size)

Re: Why Fatbike?
I liked that a lot, thanks. I put my fat wheel/tyres back on my OO Fatty a couple of weeks ago. They're heavy, slow, like to bump steer madly and really don't belong on a cross country hack around the Chilterns. But I just love riding them. And I don't know why.
I'm just going outside ...

Re: Why Fatbike?
Indeed a lovely video
We have lots in common; I too love how the fatbike opens up areas and conditions where and when a regular bike would mean walking (at a slower pace than riding).
How we can ride where we wouldn't have thought it be possible. Even after more than some years I get caught by surprise how unbelievably capable a good fatbike is. How often I think to myself "I don't think I can do it" and then it just happens.
A paradigm shift. That's what the fatbike is. Besides many other things.
Then this comes to mind too, (that time I had just started building up my first fatbike - Muru Witjira classic):
https://ianbarrington.com/2013/11/12/of ... peditions/
So yeah, 6 years of fatbiking in snow or in the desert and I still feel like I've just started exploring it's possibilities.
That said, I still find it awfully clown-like to ride on regular mtb stuff
Here's our cow charging Karl enjoying the Swiss Alps in winter at about 2000 m.a.s.l.:
Yep, feckn love it!
Sorry, this was (once again) a bit egocentric, but your vid did take my directly to my deep rooted pleasure in riding fatbikes. Thanks Jeff!
