Tru Tension Tungsten Lube
Has anybody here used the Tru Tension Tungsten Lube that is all over my facebook feeds?
Wondering if it's any good as a lube or just good marketing?
Cheers

I guess cause I run the Sonder Owners Group on FB, I get hit with lots of bike stuff adverts. They are perceptive though, I have seen their advert about 5 times today.

I've got both the All-Weather and wet lube here to try out. Heading to Wales tomorrow so should have a good idea if they can handle horrible conditions!

I've just visited their website and I'd like to know why the pictures show someone lubricating the rollers rather than between the side plates, which is where the wear takes place?

I love the video where it appears that the rider is peddling and the chain is not moving. All down to frame rate v cadence apparently. Not moving the chain would certainly make the drive chain smoother and quieter.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 6:40 pm I've just visited their website and I'd like to know why the pictures show someone lubricating the rollers rather than between the side plates, which is where the wear takes place?

Depends whether the chain is bushed or bushless. If the latter (I think virtually all modern chains are) then applying oil to the rollers is the most effective method as the oil moves inside the rollers then migrates outwards along the pin to exit from between between the plates.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 6:40 pm I've just visited their website and I'd like to know why the pictures show someone lubricating the rollers rather than between the side plates, which is where the wear takes place?

With the wildebeest of course. Or the caribou.
Then again it might be the movement between the rollers and pins.

Wouldn't putting it on the side plates allow gravity a hand in finding its way into the rollers?

Geek mode - https://www.sheldonbrown.com/chains.html in the section "Lubricant flow" (fnarr!). I have seen some reports of friction tests that seem to indicate that factory lube/grease isn't the best so it's possible that things have moved on in the understanding of what's going on within a chain.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:33 pm Wouldn't putting it on the side plates allow gravity a hand in finding its way into the rollers?
