Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Apologies, I realise it's not yet Friday but I'm still cheery - decided that while the chainsaw and axes were out I'd split my big Yew log into staves. Yew can be a bit funny but this behaved and I'm gad to say there's probably 4 bows living in there ... and that's over £500 quids worth in the picture, so if you find a big straight piece of Yew, please don't burn it

I, erm, may have just logged up and spilt rather a lot of yew. About a whole trees worth...
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I'm a touch early but only by a couple of hours. I've posted a card from my wife on here before, this was today's valentines card. Obviously I'm pleased she bought me one and that she made the effort with the choice... but why is it that the illustrators of cards can't draw bikes

Very nice work there Ray.
If you've not burnt it yet, consider flogging it to the woodturning community - they love it.I, erm, may have just logged up and spilt rather a lot of yew. About a whole trees worth...

If you need cheering up this Friday, go read the "Tarp for 2" thread, then thank your lucky stars you found this place.

Took the axe down off the wall for the first time in ages
Played "Bleed it Out" by Linkin Park really badly. Then made up my own blues thrash riff.
Put it back on the wall.
Anyway, made me happy, maybe not the neighbours though.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
In Finland getting affy nervous about this here bike race. Having a number on the bike not helping plus the race briefing spent too much time talking about over flow on the lake sections. Plus temps and overnight rain also likely to make it a hard one. Fortunately my dodgy knees will likely result in an ignominious scratch early on.....

Good word that, 'whittling'. Worth saying/typing again actually. Whittling. Marvellous . Photo keenly awaited .

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
It's Friday and finishing this makes me cheery. It's a gift for someone and I've called it 'Bitter an' Twisted'. Possibly the hardest thing I've ever had to tiller, even after straightening, the tips are still 90 degrees out of alignment from each other, yet she shoots well ........ sorry to bore you with more pictures of sticks.

Lovely bit of workmanship. Photo is a bit deceptive - makes it look 20 feet long. Maybe it is 20' long!

VERY envious, I absolutely love my Fargo and the cutty appears to be very similar in concept but lighter and generally just ultra swanky, they are both very much mountain bikes which just happen to have dropbars.Dave Barter wrote:Happy Saturday for me tomorrow as I will be in Shona and Rich’s picking a little something up
