oh FFS Nanos
I like WTB Nanos on my CX but this is the 2nd rear tyre I've destroyed on 'gravel'. I've never managed to actually wear one out before ripping the side out. Is this a Nano thing? Non TCS folding race version

Re: oh FFS Nanos
I ripped a big hole in the wall of some TCS ones. On slate rather than gravel though so not sure that counts. Walls do seem thin though.
Re: oh FFS Nanos
Without wanting to jinx myself, I've never had these issues over 1000's of miles. I use the TCS light folding version.

Re: oh FFS Nanos
It was quite rocky gravel in fairness but if it happens again I'll have to start the never ending search for something better in 40mm

Re: oh FFS Nanos
I'm planning on stitching and patching mine when I can be arsed.
Re: oh FFS Nanos
Done that once to Nano 40s on Chiltern / Ridgeway flint and road mix, in maybe 1500 miles. One sliced Horizon in maybe 6-7,000 similar miles. Luck, or lack of. They're not that tough compared to a TCS Tough casing or EXOs, but do seem pretty normal for that kind of tyre?

Yup - great tyres but fragile, sharp stones puncture them and I've torn sidewalls on 4 out 8....

Aren’t the contis 42 ? I’m really maxed out with the nanos
Tcs are stupid tight on my rims I gave up with them
Hmm wondering if 650 and horizons 47? Would fit

Re: oh FFS Nanos
From what I remember the Conti 42 is smaller than the Nano 40 - closer to a 38mm width. Nanos are also fairly tall for a 40mm tyre. Tread height mainly.

Re: oh FFS Nanos
They look the same width but I'd go with Jamesos measurements. they do have largeish side knobs and like the nano have quite a square profile as a result.

Re: oh FFS Nanos
Thanks I will bear them in mind if the latest new nano on the back goes the same way!
