Strava Club?

Post by 99percentchimp »

I've been using Strava more recently as a ride diary and it struck me that it might be a way of route sharing and as a motiviation to see what others were up to on a regular basis (either download a ride's GPX direct or via a web tool such as http://cosmocatalano.com/strava/export/index.html).
I notice that you can set up a Strava 'club' for others to join - Bear Bones Bikepacking on Strava anyone?

Stu - I've pinched a logo and referred back to the BBB website too (working on the principal of asking for forgiveness rather than permission ;) )

Joined, although I don't tend to use strava as it doesn't support my GPS.

Strava doesn't support my Dakota through Garmin Connect but I can still upload any GPX to it and the Dakota appears as a remote drive when I plug it in so that works for me. Any similar work-around for yours?

Okay, so for some reason only known to my subconcious, I've just joined Strava and the Bear Bones Strava club.

Am I right to be thinking that the simplest / cheapest device that will let me play is a Garmin Edge 200 ? I'm not wantng any whistles and bells.

Just use your Dakota, you can manually load up the tracklog "current.gpx" from your pc. Having said that, if I'm using my Dakota I still use my edge 200 as it's a bit less faff, but I wouldn't buy one specially unless you really want a bike computer.

As long as you can upload gps files you're game. e.g. .fit files from edge 200 etc. but .gpx files should work. I only upload manually the mildly more interesting rides I do anyway.

My Strava entries are all from my Dakota. Just save the track at the end of your ride, connect to your PC and let Strava do a file upload.
