What's wrong with using the angle between your thumb and index finger? It's pretty much right.

Just received some black 2 mm 'bridle-line', cordage with a dyneema core and braided sleeve of...something else. 160 kg breaking strain, 3.6 grams per meters and 30 meters for a tenner from powerkiteshop.com
It has that 'new cordage smell'.

Droped off a couple of items - I blame Stu for both
EnLIGHTENED Revalation x quilt by Brother Smith, on Flickr
Wanted to see what all the fuss about this quilt thing was and I use my curent bag open in the summer anyway so thought I would try with Revaltion x 40F. Seems to have avoided extra charges as well :D
Hope Pro II rebuilt on P35 rim by Brother Smith, on Flickr
Hopefully should spread a 2.4 tyre even wider and allow me to run at lower pressures on front with out weight penalty of going fat.

The postman has made a few visits recently, but I had to wait until my birthday before I could get them:
A silver Thomson stem so the collars and cuffs match on the Kite (pic to follow)
A pair PDW bird cages also for the Kite
A Jones H-Bar for the Pegasus
An alt-J CD.

150x200x3mm alloy sheet to make a bracket for a MYOG bar harness.

Love my Jones H-Bars, position feels much more correct then normal bars nowDan_K wrote:I'll be interested to know how you get on with the Jones bar as i've been looking at them recently.Ian wrote:The postman has made a few visits recently, but I had to wait until my birthday before I could get them:

I fond the Ti ones take away more of the vibration than the titech ones.

A Hope SP Pro2 with Arch EX rim, Hope 34T chain ring and seat collar.
All destined for a b*stard experiment with existing gear including a 26 rimmed Alfine 11, a pair of On One carbon forks and either a Cotic Simple or Tinbred frame. I doubt it'll be pretty
After a trip to Mat @ Ukhammocks to grab some tree straps (c.£7) for FF before last weekend's jaunt I am now also the proud owner of a Warbonnet XLC hammock. Rather a surprise and took my spend well over budget

Yes, will do. They look ideal for bikepacking, lots of hand positions and slightly more back-sweep/ upright position for all day riding. A custom bag to fit inside the loop is on the cards soon I think 8-)Dan_K wrote:I'll be interested to know how you get on with the Jones bar as i've been looking at them recently.
Even I struggle to justify the cost of the Ti onesMart wrote:Love my Jones H-Bars, position feels much more correct then normal bars now

I think I'm being dense here but just wanted to check - it sounds as if these probably DO fit normal suspension forks? I know sizes might vary a little but a lot of these type of things I looked at wont get anywhere near to fitting around a fork leg. I've got Fox 32 F120 FIT RLs on the Canyon.s8tannorm wrote:The Monkii Clip is listed as fitting up to 38mm diameter. I've just tried it on a pair of Marzocchi drop offs with a slightly odd leg profile (not actually round) and with a diameter of around 40mm. I had to use a slightly longer bolt than the 2 supplied but it went on okay.Whats the maximum diameter you think the clips would work to Stu?
Looking for extra water carrying capacity for summer, so wondering if they would cope with being fitted onto suspension forks?
I think had the fork leg been round and 40mm, then the longest supplied bolt would have been fine.
Re: The post man's been ...
An optimus Crux and an MSR Titan kettle.
Ill be sticking with the mug / meths set up for one nighters for brews etc but this brings me a lightweight gas set up for when I think I want to cook instead.
Jury is out on which is best (or none) for the highland trail

The Monkii Clip (the bit required to fit a cage where there's no mounts) will fit 38mm and with the use of a longer bolt will go up to about 40mm diameter.

Re: The post man's been ...
I will have to go measure. They are 32mm forks but I don't know whether that refers to the diameter of the lower legs or the uppers...!?s8tannorm wrote:What diameter are the fork legs ?I think I'm being dense here but just wanted to check - it sounds as if these probably DO fit normal suspension forks? 32mm is the stanchion diameter rather than the lower legs.I will have to go measure. They are 32mm forks but I don't know whether that refers to the diameter of the lower legs or the uppers...!?

Re: The post man's been ...
His just droped of a moosive Ardent 29 x 2.4 for the new P35 front wheel and some XO grip-shifters. Hopefully shifters will finally end my quest to find a set I like with my Jones bars :D

Liking the shape so far, at least as far as a spin around the Estate has revealed. I'm already used to the backsweep from the Carnegies (and Mary's before those), but the slightly more upright position will hopefully help my shoulders/ neck on long rides. The out of the saddle position is a bit different, and might yet take some getting used to.
Taping up the loop with bar tape was an interesting exercise too...

I really (think) I want a set of these for an adventure bike. I'm using On-0ne Fleegles on my commuter which don't have the same degree of sweep, but do have more than a 'normal' bar. Just worried the sweep might be too much... Its a bit of a risk given they are fairly pricey.
Re: The post man's been ...
I tried fleegles and found them to be too much like a standard bar. I now use Marys which you can get for £12.99. You could try a pair to see if you like the sweep before committing to Jones. Marys do have a rise on them though, I ride mine flipped.InspiredRamblings wrote:Ooh... photos?Ian wrote:
