WRT photos
Rather than copy them here, here's some of my shots from the weekend. The panda shots are duplicated for no particular reason.

Re: WRT photos
Ta for thread Bob, was wondering whether to bother. When there's a possibility for bunging loads of photos up, it reminds me of "a slide show of my Everest Basecamp holiday" that a pal once announced he was going to treat us to.... V interesting we thought. Gathered round, beer, crisps, etc; Thought there might be about 20 nice selected pics. Hour later we'd seen 50 slides of what seemed to be them going "up", mainly of "snow/rock" variety. Our dawning realisation was confirmed when he said "well there you go, impressive eh, now here's the ones of us coming back down again". Arg! Could as well have been mirror-image of first 50 .
Anyroad, here's my 100 pics:
Our intrepid band crossing the Dyfi bridge at Cemmaes Rd. Wonder if Si went for the "bridleway" crossing after all .
Plodding up through Dyfi Forest:
Got mildly disorientated and ended up pushing nonchalantly across someone's yard. Arrived at Corris searching for food and found Taylor and Matt smugly announcing the Slaters Arms was sorting them out. As we were ordering our nosh, the cook dashed out and claimed she couldn't handle it all and promptly cancelled everything including Taylor's and Matt's! We continued on to Abergynolwyn where they were much more accommodating, albeit a bit Fawlty Towers.
9pm saw us disappear into the thick fog, arriving at one of the "usual" bivi spot a couple of hours later. An amazing temperature inversion had filled the valley with cloud and it was like looking down on a very fluffy pillow. A lot of clear felling gave us a bit of a problem finding spots, and adventurous doggers etc appeared at various points during the night but we slept well, and meant we weren't far from our seaside aim:
Barmouth was as mental as you'd imagine, but still time to nip in for a second breakfast at Davy Jones' then round for some sweeties :
Mawddach as spectacular as ever:
Then through Doogaloo ("Closed" obviously, well it was Bank Holiday) and over Fukc It Hill for the fire road scream down to Aberllefenni, and one of my favourite boozers for cocktails . A cheeky bivi place down the valley (nice one Ben), a massive breakfast in Cafe Maengwyn in Mach, then along the back road to Cemmaes Road and Commins Coch, followed by the soaring heights and sunburn to Stu's. Photo of the world's smallest bikepacker:

Re: WRT photos
I completely forgot you'd taken that rhubarb shot Bob. I was completely out of it in the morning.
Re: WRT photos
Rode up to Pennant via Llangurig and Hafren
This was a welcome sight after pushing through a mile of waterlogged trails in Dyfnant
Yours truly
A lot later in the day somewhere N of Llanrhaeadr
After a very nice pint at the Hand in Llanarmon and a 45 minute ride/push to the top of the Wayfarer
The view from the top
I bivvied down about a mile below the summit.
I didn't bother with the tarp as it was forecast to be dry overnight - so I was able to lie in my bag, listening to a podcast, sipping whisky and watching the stars.
Woke about 5.30 - a bit cloudy but lovely nonetheless
Misty down in the valley
Soon cleared up
First proper climb of the day ahead up the Hirnant Valley - you can just about make out the road going up the middle
Wasn't as bad as it looks, honest.
More lovely lanes descending to Lake Vyrnwy
Bwlch y Groes
Even more lovely lanes
Stopped for yet another brew on the way back to Rhayader at a lovely quiet spot just south of Hafren.

Re: WRT photos
Just a few from a great weekend with great company & the weather. Big thanks to Stu, Dee & Si....
After a lovely day up in the hills, a quick link fix of a chain & some great IPA at the pub, even offering a place to stay in the garden.
https://whatpub.com/pubs/CER/102/dovey- ... mmaes-road we ended up hill above the Dovey valley.
A quick action shot:
Time for a few take in the view moments
Angus & Marlin
Darbeze with morning brew
And finally, thankfully this held for the 50 miles...

Cheers Rob
