Recycling tents

My lads scout troop have had a sort out of there tents ,my lad brought the outer skin of a 6 man tent ( I’ve not measured it yet ) home ,got me thinking about it been used to make a couple of tarps .ive neitherthe time or the skill but was wondering if there is anyone out there that has

I've previously used old flysheets to make tarps. In general, unless it's a lightweight tent, you end up with a heavyweight tarp.

It's a faff, but you get to learn some basic skills by at least trying to do it.
