Could be something special, perhaps loads of GR,s or perhaps just one? Whatever it will be fun...mainlyRIP wrote:
Wonder how many more posts there'll be on this thread before the inevitable thinly-veiled and very naughty attempts to extract some clues from long-suffering Stuart. I'm thinking we'll be heading north-east this time. Oops. But I know Stuart is immune to such pathetic wheedling these days!

I'll be lowering the tone with my attendance and spoiling it for the group of southerners I leech on to
So is it North, South, East, West or sod it lets go that a way?
Who's aiming for The Star Inn on the Friday night?

You're not supposed to have decent kit on the DofE. Tell him to HTFU.

No problems got a space in the car was supposed to bring the young fella but he decided a school trip to Pompeii is better than sleeping in a ditch for a couple of nightsModer-dye wrote:Very much appreciate that offer. Looks like I've got 'til the 1st of April to try and scrape some leave from somewhere... Though I might have to save whatever I can muster for the BB200.
Ah well, I'll be a man of leisure next year so at least I can nail the WRT 2019 on.

Mentioned wrt to my 10 yr daughter tonight, she thought it sounded great. She clearly has no idea what she'd be getting into but liked the idea of cake.
We're cool wild camping / bivvying. We can handle some type 1.5 fun but I'm not she is ready for full-on type 2 just yet.
Would 'lite' be doable?

Re: WRT entry open
You plan your route, you can make it type 1.632 or even type 1.045 fun if you want, doesn't have to be type 2 !! If she can ride a handful of miles over a couple of days (because that's all you have to do if that's all you want to do) then it is certainly "doable" and I'm sure could be great fun.Nevis wrote:Mentioned wrt to my 10 yr daughter tonight, she thought it sounded great. We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

"1.632 or even type 1.045 fun" . I do like a man who takes his fun so seriously
Just ask Mr NotInABox whether Dillon had a nice time on t'Racer. I reckon your daughter will have the time, and memory, of her life . Give her the map, get her to make all the decisions, put her in charge, get her to ride in front. As Peter said, you don't have to do whatever anyone else is doing (apart from the cake-consumption obviously). She'll probably make some far more sensible decisions than any of us lot too .

I thought with you lot it'd be the shortest mileage to a hostelry, or is it only 1mile anyway?whitestone wrote:Typo!Asposium wrote:would that golden ratio not be 1.61803398875?whitestone wrote:I find type 1.62803 to be the perfect ratio of fun

Eh? What you on about Steve? You look like a pub?! Actually there's probably some mileage in that - we just need to fix a tiny barrel of beer to our racks. DAMN. Not racks. I mean saddles. No, I mean... <BOING> <gets flung into the Abyss Of BP Retribution>.
