Looking for information on Sunrace CSMS8 11-41t cassette.
The best I can find is that 'it is compatible with SRAM and Shimano drive trains' but cant actually see specifically which hub it fits on.
Unless they fit either Sram or Shimano.
Spooky or what. Just got back from the LBS with a 11-40t 11 speed Sunrace MX8 cassette. I can confirm it fits fine on a 10 speed Shimano pattern freehub without spacer. I am building up a spare low geared rear wheel for the Gravel bike, the current wheel has an 11 speed Ultegra cassette 11-32 which fits a Hope Pro4 hub but this cassette is too wide for the 10 spd hub I've got. Plan is to put a Wolftooth roadlink on and run a 34-46 chainset. Strictly speaking this gives a 41t capacity which oversteps the 37t recommended for the 105 long cage mech I've got but should be fine as long as I avoid big and big gear combos.
What shifters are you using on that?
The fully built bike I am looking at comes 1x11 with an assortment of SRAM and Sunrace.
If I buy a frame thought I would go XT 2x11 for groupset because I already have that.
Bit stuck on shifters with drops unless I go Di2.
STI shifters will work with XT but then stuck with road spec mechanical calipers unless I can re plumb my XT hydraulics.
I'm using Ultegra hydraulic levers with cable gears not Di2, can't remember which number they are. Just mounted the hub into the frame and run up and down the gears and all's fine apart from the top jockey wheel rubbing on the 40t sprocket which the Roadlink will solve. The aim is to lower the gearing without resorting to a new super compact chainset, I've been looking at the FSA 30/46 chainset but cannot justify £300+ when I've got a perfectly good 34/46 currently fitted. I want to stick with the current Q factor so don't want to fit a mountainbike chainset.
