Bear Bones News.
Them: Any chance I can have a BB200 place.
Me: Sorry, best I can do is put you on the reserve list.
Them: But I didn't know when entries opened and they've all gone.
Me: Yes, I know. I tried to give plenty of warning. Don't you get the newsletter?
Them: No, I unsubscribed.
Me: FFS.
I used to add everyone registering for the forum to the mailing list but doing that is now considered very naughty. To save me getting my legs slapped, can I suggest that if / when you register for the forum, you follow the link in your activation email and add yourself to the mailing list.
Can I also suggest that anyone who doesn't receive the email already might like to go and register ... as it'll save us all from the above and numerous other 'why didn't I know?' situations and sometimes, it's almost worth reading ... thank you. http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/contact/

As I tried explaining to 'them' Bob. I strove to give as much warning in as many places, as I could.I wonder if there was a thread about it

I think an email (if subscribed), 2 different facebook pages ( possibly others?) and strangely enough
On this very forum ( with lots of notice) would be ample warning ?

It will be Christmas Day tomorrow.
I knew last year I wouldn't be able to make this year's BB200 (long standing calendar clash) but even so I knew when entries were going to open.

Re: Bear Bones News.
I put a reminder in my phone last year when I put the BB200 on my list on the '2017 Plans' thread. What with that, this forum, facebook, the newsletter and twitter it was pretty hard to not know when the entries were.
I was out on a bivi on entry day and managed to get home in time to get on line and get a place. I didn't want to book it on my phone whilst out riding as I thought that wasn't ethical

Chapeau sir!
Re: Bear Bones News.
Are you allowed to pre-book these events before the start anyway? Shouldn't you book your place after the clock starts ticking....sean_iow wrote:I didn't want to book it on my phone whilst out riding as I thought that wasn't ethical
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
