120cm for the main pole and 1m for the door.

It'd still work but the door would be fairly low ... but you could use your bike to prop that up.

Stu, is this the tarp you had set up at the weekend during your talk?
Also as we're on the copied gear, is there anyone out there making mattresses?

I got one - took forever to arrive, but very happy with it ( they really are massive).
Works well with Stu's poles.

Got one after seeing a post about it on the Bargain Alert Thread. Think I paid about £45, which I thought was a bargain at this lower price it's a steal. Although delivery was slow it arrived within the quoted time. I think it's great, massive but a superb rough weather shelter. Took a few practice sessions to get the hang of pitching it just right. It's also worthwhile playing about with different pitching options, as it's a more versatile than first appearance. I use it with Stu's 1.2 and 1 metre poles.

How do they compare? And what made you choose to take the cheap one rather than the posh one?

I have an Ali Trailstar clone, which I like to call my TrAliStar

I've taken it on one 2 night and one 3 night bikepacking trips but only actually used it one night, a very windy but dry night.

Found it to be huge, and very windproof. I use it with a 1.1m and 1m pole as that's what I have

I've seamsealed mine but haven't actually rain proven it yet

I've not worked out how to use that nylon tape that came with it, something to do with pegging points but have just done it by trail and error. Pegging on the flat would be fine but the time I pitched it was on a field of tussocks so it wasn't quite perfect as there were tussocks in the way as well as where I wanted to sleep and needed to put the middle pole. A small bit of faffing later and it was nigh on perfect

Standalone, the copy is very good but when put next to a proper Trailstar the quality of manufacture isn't quite there. However, that's not to take anything away from the copy ... they're very good but at £100 less, you can't expect the things to be the same.

Recently, I've take the copy just to try it. I took it to the Lakes last weekend simply as an example of what types of shelters are available cheaply.

Thanks, seems fair. Ron did a review of one too and compared it against his own product which I thought seemed quite good of him

I'm very impressed by it, there are some good cloneof things on Aliexpress, haven't tried anything else though
