Good god you people are scrawny freaks   Lucky you, Tim, you don't have to buy clothes are far too wide for you, just to get sleeves that reach to your wrists and to cover your lower back! I'm also warmer at night Dave (soooooo well insulated). My life really is a win-win   :lol...

Good god you people are scrawny freaks  My XL is a fine. It fits but would seem to have little spare room in the shoulders or chest area for significant layers (given it's warmth that seems fine) and fits snuggly at waist (c'mon, lets be honest, gut ) level. Compared to a Patagonia nanopu...

Re: What other sports/fitness/exercise do you do?
Frequently - squash and TKD - at least once a week for each. Alternatively - packrafting, walking (dogs, hills, whatever), indoor rowing (great when I do it but struggle to establish a habit), kettlebells, climbing (in and out but oh so very rarely), yoga. As an exercise-induced asthmatic I always s...

I picked up a couple of these on sale a while ago: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lifesystems-Mountain-SPF50-Protection-Cream/dp/B06VVL12FL?th=1&psc=1 https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/711ZL0yxygL._AC_SX679_.jpg It's much smaller in real life (50ml) Worth bearing in mind (and IIRC) but sunscre...

Are you on a private supply? If not shirley the water company is the man / woman / person for the job?
If you really want to trace it I've seen them use divining rods, easily fashioned from wire coathanger Otherwise most plant hire shops do CAT&G (for a price).

Great list of big name riders, and really good bike list. Most interesting is Isla Rowntree and her great looking custom bike: https://bikepacking.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Rowntree-2023-ht550-rigs_1-960x640.jpg Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. I was just thinking Scandal too, though not sure if the latest incarnation (Mk3?) has gone all "long-low-slack". Someone with one could probably say. TBH at that budget you could do worse than watch Planet X and see what comes up in their erratic pricing schemes. There are likely to be sev...

Re: All night lights
I used to baulk at Exposure due to the cost and I didn't get the fuss about it being a single unit. Then I bought one and was, to my chagrin*, convinced. Their after-sales have been great as the odd unit has needed attention (e.g. carbon joystick came unstuck at metal / carbon joints) and, whilst us...

There's quilts (Cumulus, Enlightened Equipment, Thermarest, Sea2Summit etc) and then there's Alpkit's Cloudcover, IMO  Pretty much any of the others will do you something effective. The Cloudcover is (or at least mine) was a poor size, stitched through and not all that great. I've chuntered ab...

Re: E-bikes - Bad for your health
Reading the article that does indeed seem to be part of the problem (sub standard cells, sub standard chargers). I suspect it's compounded by the high level of bike theft so these things are usually indoors and that's where charging also occurs. When it goes wrong that means fire and noxious smoke i...

Re: Gravel porn
While it's built for speed, so says Reilly, this is very much practical and fast gravel rather than US-style, minimal aero gravel, as the Reflex can run a dropper post and dynamo lights with fully integrated cabling and has huge 55mm tyre clearance. This bit I don't understand, it's "practical...

It might not work or it might just be an incredibly smart-arse thing to say after the event  Push pegging loop of guy line through a chain link, larks foot onto a peg. Should hold the peg if tension is off/on plus minimal changes to or knots in guy lines. 10/10 for the pitch in the end though ...

They haven't managed to kill cheques yet (despite what some might think) so I suspect cash still has some life left in it.
