Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?

I'm gona give it a go over 3 days. I'm severely impressed! I think I would be crucified by my other half, my family and her family if I tried to do that! trying to avoid a scenario where I'm just banging in miles for the sake of it Ditto, although a back up plan for this winter is to try an...

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?

I'm gona give it a go over 3 days. Was meant to do it with Chew but unfortunately I'll be travelling down to the midlands to family. 24th: Yorkshire/Dewsbury to Leicester 120 miles or so. 25th leicester to Birmigham (70 miles but only cos I incrwqaed the route a little) 26th Birmingham to Bradford a...

Re: Clearout - More added 6/12

Shoes arrived. Look brandnew. A bit square but my square feet love em... time to chuck out the Northface ones that I've had for past 5 years (bought em off the grumpy man at a bike shop)... Can't wait to chuck em out (maybe another few hudred miles of summer cycling left in em though  ) Thanks ...

Re: Long term lights: real world reviews

Thats some serious real world reviews there. None of that crap that MBR throw at us with all their advertisers (Specialized Stumpjumper in the top 10 bikes of the decade for 10 years and Trek always getting a 3/10 rating!) getting the "bees knees" ratings (sorry Paul Burwell if you're list...

Long term lights: real world reviews

Just thught I'd start this topic off as its an interesting and hopefully useful one for many. Try and review your lights that you've had and used/not used (then why) for while. The - what (what you got); where (you use them or don't cos their crap); how (much you like em and versatile/useful they ar...

Re: Audaxing bar tape & "to see" compact lights

Thanks again. Will order the bartape shortly as theres certainly no shortage of options now. The glowworm... yep, it could double up as an mtb light (or double up for the dark unlit roads) so was thinking more of a one light to do it all. At the mo I have my notecore attached the the bars and use it...

Re: Audaxing bar tape & "to see" compact lights

Thanks everyone. Thats bartape sorted. I used to think the 3.2mm lizard skins and fizik performance were the thickest/most comfy... will order shortly. No one has any thoughts on lights! :???: Rather not buy a 35 quid ebay jobby as I like to just buy once and want better lumens and build qual... so ...

Re: Audaxing bar tape & "to see" compact lights

320 mile round trip over 3 days. My frame is a steel -631 reynolds- retro Condor. Max tires it takes is 25mm rear. Not much more psi i can release from it (on 100 at the lo on tubless schwalbe pro ones.... can maybe get it to 90 psi)...

Thanks for all the info guys. Evans do 4.5mm... excellent

Audaxing bar tape & "to see" compact lights

As per title... any suggestions. Planning on doing a 320 mile loops soon... Would rather just pay once for abovr items (alrrady havey nitecore which would then be the backup 200-300 lumener. Thinking glowworm x2 as the reviews for the equivalent fenix ajnt that great (bc30 etc)... Suggestions and th...

Re: Todays ride

Went to the Chapel-on-le frith trailquest set up by Dark&White. Been doing the trailquests set up by these guys on and off for the last few years and basically always look if I've gotten any further away from the bottom (was 8th from last place today with 85 points!). If anyone doesn't know what...

Re: Guy Martins round Britain

Have been messing about with routes to do this for some time......it's a bloody long way, 2300+ miles. had hoped to do a little "dark" race round the coast one day. 250 miles a day is monumental, but made a little easier with someone supporting you, cutting out all the food and sleep find...

Ian. I just found this. Had been wondering for many moons how to get the full route without going to the annoying PBW website... Plan on doing this as a bikepacking thingy (was hoping 2017 but will probably be later after I have more exp of bikepacking and fhe confidence). How would we know when you...

i have a nice 300k ride for you that comes through Dewsbury. Butties Brid Trip. from Meltham, out to Bridlington, and back a different way. Mate. Thanks a "Bobby Dazzler" bundle. Please tell me its in your strava and you'll be able to send it as a strava file so I can just save it into my...

Re: Audax: A pair of Kirtons

Yup. I could do that pace (my average on the 100ft/mile rides ia around 10mph and on a long fairly steep ride of 50ft/mile its touching 13 to 15mph)... yup, York and back sounds like a good plan/reminder. That's one of the days covered. The other 2/3 days will probably be to The Rake and back (which...

Re: Audax: A pair of Kirtons

Not really up for riding for in the dark at this time of year, and it sounds like you may be planning something a bit more leisurely? I've got a 200 in mind out to the Humber Bridge and back if you're interested in some longer day rides. 12 hours out, early pre-dawn start at 6am and back for 6pm to...

Re: Audax: A pair of Kirtons

Thanks chief (bearbonesnorm)... My outlook on Bivvy bags may just have changed.. Chew: Not planning on the ride being leisurely but my pace would probably be classed as leisurely by your standards. Humber bridge ride sounds great and I would defo be interested in the longer days. Not sure I would be...

Re: Audax: A pair of Kirtons

Surely I would need a tent rather than trying to Bivvy it (not bivvied yet  ) in such potentially cold conditions. Although the bikepacking idea does sound appealing with the reduced weight meaning I could ride a little further (maybe the 3 rides theory might be possible without the tent :| )

Re: Audax: A pair of Kirtons

 Never thought of riding the 500 in one ride... whatever gave that impression. I reckon it'd have been this bit… "Need to make a round loop of around 310miles which I'll (try and) ride at end of this month" But it got me thinking, maybe I could do it in 3 rides… Oh yes. I see. I'll l...
