Thanks fella, unsure what to do yet.
I think I'll leave it another couple of days yet to see how daily walks impact me before I commit arse to saddle.
But mightily heartened to know that it's entirely possible I'll be back riding much sooner than I originally thought.....

Re: Evolution of sports
Last time I climbed (indoors or out) was around 2007 (so fifteen years ago) at the Castle, Finsbury Park in that there London. Your recent description seems to fit with my memory of the experience perfectly. Maybe you're more accurately explaining how long it takes things to filter oop North from mo...

Calling Mr Ton.....
Hey Tony (said in a Goodfellas New Yoik accent), I was just scouring the t'interweb for info about when it's safe/sensible* to get back on a bike after Umbilical Hernia surgery and your name came up in an old STW thread about this very subject..... (*delete as applicable) So.....you were back on a b...

...hard bedtimes and wake times. Restricted napping too. This too ^ I was told no napping at all. ...a friend suggested stop trying and failing. Just get out of bed. Sit on a sofa or the floor and listen to a podcast or something chill. Then, if the eyes start drooping, give sleep another go... And...

Re: Insonia cures?
I've had fairly nasty insomnia since the mid-nineties and a couple of years ago I spent about six months seeing a 'sleep therapist' in order to try and get a handle on things. The order of play for us was... - make sure it's not medical first. - then work on environmental / lifestyle factors. - look...

Re: What are you listening to now?
Peel's son, BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Tom Ravenscroft, remembers the exhausted expert sitting in the family kitchen and offering a verdict: "You do realise this is the best record collection in the world?" It's hard to argue." I used to love listening to John Peel and am sure his record c...

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)
For why?
Nothing good happens after about 19:30, that's a scientific fact. I consider the day won if I'm in bed before the kids are asleep (~20:30) - who says rock and roll is dead???

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)
Oh and as we're nearing the end of the month it'll soon be time for me to begin some kind of graphic representation of everyone's progress this far. Not sure what form it'll take yet but I'll try a few things out and present something as aesthetically pleasing as I can. But it'll likely not be until...

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)
Good news: I went on my nano-adventure and it was bloody lovely! A sniff over two days away from home and I managed to squeeze in two five hour drives, two sunny gravel-tastic rides (45km and 91km), two train journeys, two iconic Italian cities visited and two nice sleeps. Bad news: Despite eating s...

I'm breezy, I'll just throw 365 columns onto the spreadsheet and then once a week I'll go through and enter them when they were posted.

And from there we just chat about all things health/fitness/density etc...

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)
I might well run out of time/steam/motivation in the future but at this point I plan to resurrect an old BBFF's tradition and create a monthly graph/chart so that we can all see how we're progressing in lovely, HD, technicolour splendor! (Thinking I'll do it as either kgs +/- from the start weight O...
