Re: How Much !
Taking the TCR as an example,it is a massive undertaking for the team behind it, organising start and finish locations with four checkpoints along the way, whilst they have sponsors, the people that man those checkpoints are volunteers, and i think the amount charged is really good value, whereas ar...

Re: Things that make you sad.
I must admit i don't tend to be the sentimental type when it comes to animals, but when i used to commute regularly to work by bike, i used to see the same barn owl about 5am, he would follow me and always break off about the same field boundary and turn back. Saddened me then to find it dead in the...

Re: Way off topic travel luggage help?
I do similar to the above, i have a large holdall like the TNF one but it has rucksack straps on too, then i have an Exped dry bag for dirty gear, laptop goes in a padded sleeve and items like t-shirts and shirts that are folded neatly i put in a few pillowcases to help them stay stacked and neat. N...

Re: Aiguille bikepacking kit
I think that any new company now has to branch out and do something different and innovative, there are so many places you can place a bikepacking bag and they all now seem to go for the same solutions really.

Some lovely Chris King Singlespeed hubs built on to Stans Crest rims for my old Singular Peregrine, an ebay find that seem to have hardly ever been used.

Although i am not one for style over substance, is it me or do they instantly look very dated? I think it is the colours used and their logos.

I have always used Dog-Tag mostly because if you specify the sport you are doing, they will cover you correctly, unfortunately i did have to use them and they were great, i had an off in Bolivia where i dislocated shoulder, broke arm (needing screws in shoulder) and stabbed myself in leg with brake ...

Best way to attach embroidery patch?
I have my patch from TNR and a few other events i was going to stick on frame bag, I originally attached it with fabric glue, but that didn't seem to last too well, any suggestions for best way to attach them on there to last? Don't worry i won't go full paid wearing, mug-dangling, front rack packin...

Think i was a bit optimistic on fit too... usually wear a large or XL t-shirt, but XL is very "fitted" across chest. Any XXL wearers need a swop?

Re: Gravel bike gearing
There are some new chainsets and chainrings about, Easton do a 46/30 front and coupled with 11-34 or 11-36 cassette, it gives a very good range. For Torino-Nice i used a MTB crankset with a butchered 38/22 chain set and 11-36 cassette and that worked well for the long hard climbs, but spun out easil...

Re: Expensive hipster bivvy gear
Speaking of the brand association above, there will always be a market for this type of gear, i used to live in Surrey and would watch new roadies throwing down their golf-bats on mass and doing laps of Richmond Park in their uniform of Crikey, how much and Pinarello bikes and it put me off, that al...

Re: bombtrack beyond 1: buy or dont buy
My two pennies worth.. the Bombtrack bike looks a lot like a Fargo. Having owned a Fargo before they are great bikes, but they are by no means light, they are great for long distance touring with a load where they are stable and like riding an armchair. But they are not light and many a carbon 29er ...

Re: Pro roadies do bikepacking
I was always told the biggest mistake with recreational cyclists was too much "grey" riding, so riding around at the same effort week in, week out, usually in zones 2-4 in each ride. They don't ride slow enough to stay in Zone 2, so don't get the benefit of the body building stamina and fa...
