Re: Salsas at 1/2 RRP

I plumped for this one
http://www.billys.co.uk/english/group.p ... 2013Mukluk
as it is a 16 inch frame and I quite like the purple (especially if I can get rim tape to match)

Re: New bike time...

Didn't realise the charge was 135mm but James' PSA means I've clicked on the mukluk frame. Correct size and colour too as I nearly bought it from triton Cycles earlier in the week :D

Cheers for pointing it out too Composite, I'm one happy chappy :D

Spoke too soon!

Saw the PSA on singletrack and thought it was complete bikes but they have frames too. Just about to click on the mukluk frame.

Happy days :D

New bike time...

After a new bike in the coming months and this time, it's going to be a fat bike. Budget is £1500, so plenty of choice out there. Would prefer a 170mm rear hub so I can run larger rims (so no surly) and get more float and it needs to be a 16 inch frame or smaller (so sadly, no genesis  ). This...

Re: lesson learnt the hard way

Not going to use the anything cages any more :( In hindsight, it does seem daft putting such an object near the wheel!

My water bottle cages are secure on the forks and the bottle never moves, but I may rethink that option

lesson learnt the hard way

Using my Salsa anything cages today with a dry bag attached. Seemed secure enough to me, so was happily riding along when the cage became loose and turned a wee bit. Unfortunately, it turned into the wheel  No prizes for guessing the outcome! My dawn to dusk ride was cut short, my cage had sna...

Re: Possibly a daft SS / frame geometry question..

Personally, on my last 3 singlespeed frames I've had,
I've never noticed it. As the chain stretches, I simply extended the wheel back to tension the chain and have yet to notice the minor difference

Re: Would it help? pedal problem

If using cleats, how about lemond wedges? Designed for said cyclist after his hunting accident left him with one leg shorter

Edit; just re-read your post and saw you said flat pedals only

Re: Karrimor X lite bivi bag

Their blow up sleeping mats are rubbish (I've had two fail on me) so I wouldn't trust them on their kit. Saying that, I've seen that bag and it does look tempting but if it was me, I'd consider other options

Not a helpful response I know!

If you PM jblewi of this forum, he'll be able to help you with some general questions about Norway/camping etc. He's made two climbing trips there over the last two summer. Once driving all the way to lofoton and the second, to the Troll Wall area. Guess you won't need to take bike lights nor a head...

Re: Wildcat Ocelot or Alpkit Possum?

Went for the small-sized alpkit one on the release day. Stumbled across it and I know alpkit stuff sells out fast, so bought it straightaway. Use it to carry the following -2x 29er tubes -Pump -patches -multi tool -small coil lock It will also squeeze in an energy gel and front door key but not much...

Good start with the Salsa, have had one since July and love how versatile it is. Have the Fargo forks on mine, so it can take the anything cages. Worth getting a frame bag too, got a half frame Alpkit possum for taking my tools and spare tubes etc

Re: Waterproof jacket recommendations?

It will be worth looking at mountaineering jackets too, they tick all the boxes except, perhaps, the long in the tail. For fabrics, my preference is Gore-tex active shell (most breathable of the GTX range) although it would be wise to consider event and polartec neo-shell. Rab, mountain equipment, T...
